Spurs have had a great start to the 2016-17 season, and the Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are loving life!

They are the only team still unbeaten in the Premier League and recently dismantled the leaders Manchester City without looking particularly rattled.

Their only dropped points came with impressive draws with Liverpool and Everton and they sit comfortably in the top four despite the doubters this summer.

As Manchester United and Chelsea heavily invested under their new management, huge improvements were expected whilst Tottenham were meant to be the team that dropped out of the top four to allow for the heavyweights to rejoin but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

They look like a really strong unit under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and even the injury to Harry Kane hasn’t stopped them in their tracks.

However, there’s always room for improvement and Spurs are good at buying budding talent.

In fact they’ve bought from the lower leagues before as they picked up teenage sensation Dele Alli from League One MK Dons and he has flourished in the capital.

The punters here at the Tavern have scouted the lower leagues for more talent that could help the Spurs’ cause….

Ayoze Perez

The 23-year-old Spaniard is currently plying his trade in the North East with Newcastle United.

He has netted 14 times in 76 league appearances for the Magpies which isn’t an incredible record, but he does more for the team then score goals.

He helps the players in and around him and is always one to chase supposed lost causes.

The striker has been in England for two years since joining from Tenerife in 2014.

The Newcastle front man has actually been linked with Spurs in the past and there’s no denying his quality.

We at the Tavern think he’s the sort of footballer Spurs are crying out for to make them complete because they are still missing that pace up front, to help complement Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen.

Anthony Knockaert

The 24-year-old plays as a winger for Brighton and Hove Albion where he’s scored 9 goals in 28 league games.

The pacey winger shone at Leicester City as he played for the Foxes between 2012 and 2015, but he is most famous for missing a crucial penalty in the playoff semi final against Watford. (You can see the video below)

He briefly left England for a spell at Standard Liege but returned and is hoping to lead Brighton to the Premier League after narrowly missing out on promotion last season.

However, we think he could do a great job at Spurs, especially as a player used in squad rotation because they have more games this season due to the Champions League.

Despite the fact that Spurs have fine players in that department right now including Heung Min Son, Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko, we think that Knockaert could bring more pace and flair and would be a great capture.

Britt Assombalonga

The Congolese-English footballer currently plies his trade at Nottingham Forest and is a big powerful, yet pacey striker.

Like Perez, he is the sort of striker Spurs are crying out for and they wouldn’t have to pay over the odds for him.

If it wasn’t for an untimely injury, we think Assombalonga might already be playing in the Premier League but he has missed a lot of football over the past couple of years and is looking to get back to full fitness.

He signed a new 5-year-deal with Forest in September but is likely to be drawn to a move if Spurs come calling and we certainly think they should.

Again, he’s another striker to bolster the ranks even more of what is becoming an increasingly solid Tottenham side.
