Arsenal supporters at the Football Transfer Tavern bar are reminiscing about better times than the ones that they have had to endure in recent years.
With all of the speculation surrounding Arsene Wenger and his future at Arsenal, the punters can’t help but try to remember some of the big moments that they and the club will have enjoyed under him, that the media and supporters of other teams may have forgotten about.
They are talking about the moments that were so big for the club on an emotional level, as well as what helped to shape Arsene Wenger’s style.
The landlord has overheard the conversations and has been reminded of moments that had long left his memory.

Arsene Wenger’s first game at Highbury
Arsene Wenger’s first game at Highbury was a massive moment for Arsenal, which was made an even bigger moment by all of the time that the Frenchman has spent as manager of the club.
The game itself wasn’t a classic though.
It was a 0-0 draw against Coventry and the most notable incident was an injury to Coventry’s goalkeeper, Steve Ogrizovic who was stretchered off after a collision with Ian Wright.
Dennis Bergkamp made his first appearance for the Gunners as well as he came off the bench.
Thierry Henry’s Arsenal return
After five years away from Arsenal spending time with Barcelona and New York Red Bulls, Thierry Henry returned on loan in 2012 on a two month loan.
His first game back was against Leeds United in the FA third round against Leeds United, a game in which he came off of the bench to score the winning goal in the 77th minute, slotting the ball into the far corner in his typical style.
He may not have been wearing his iconic number 14 shirt, as Theo Walcott had it, but it rolled back the years for the Gunners and almost made it seem like he had never left.
First game at the Emirates Stadium
The first ever goal to be scored at the Emirates Stadium was actually bagged by Aston Villa centre back Olof Mellberg, not quite what Arsenal supporters would have wanted it to be.
It wasn’t the result that they would have wanted either, as the only Arsenal player who managed to score was Gilberto Silva and the game ended 1-1.
It was still a massive occasion though, as it was Arsenal’s first game in their new stadium, although it wasn’t quite able to match the last match at Highbury which had seen Arsenal beat Wigan 4-2.
