Do Not Sell My Personal Information

3 players Arsenal should definitely cash in on this month – Agreed?

Arsenal currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, despite only making one senior transfer in the summer in the form of ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

With arguably one of the strongest starting XI’s in England, it is about time that the Gunners are back at the top. However, their squad depth is relatively weak in comparison to other clubs, such as title rivals Manchester City, with many players out of favour at the Emirates.

One punter over by the bar claims that this season could be the season where Arsene Wenger finally manages to win the Premier League title again. Meanwhile, Arsenal fans playing a game of pool continue to bemoan their club’s lack of spending in order to improve their squad.

Supporters of the London outfit believe that their team has too many average players within its ranks and believe that they should cash in on several of these players and replace them with top quality players.

In this article, we will be discussing our top 3 players that Arsenal should be looking to sell.

Mathieu Debuchy

Debuchy

Debuchy was signed from Newcastle in a reported £12 million deal back in the summer of 2014 as a direct replacement for compatriot Bacary Sagna, who departed the club on a free transfer to rivals Manchester City.

However, whilst his French international teammate has been a key performer for the Blues, Debuchy has been nowhere near as impressive when called upon for the Gunners.

The 30-year old is behind talented youngster Hector Bellerin in the pecking order, having only started 2 league fixtures this campaign, and Arsenal fans at the bar believe that Debuchy’s time is up. The current rumour around the Tavern suggests that relegation candidates Aston Villa are looking to sign him.

Mikel Arteta

Arteta

Despite being the current Arsenal captain, Mikel Arteta is very much out of favour at the Emirates. The Spaniard’s contract expires at the end of the season, with several clubs said to be interested in signing the former Everton midfielder this month, including another top flight side based in the capital, West Ham.

Arsenal sold previous captain Thomas Vermaelan to Barcelona back in 2014 and 33-year old Arteta could follow suit, with Arsenal looking to cash in before he becomes avaiable on a free transfer. He would provide vital experience and leadership to a team like West Ham, who are looking to bolster their squad as they strive to achieve European football, although he is no longer at the top level, having only managed 7 league appearances this term, all from the bench.

Yaya Sanogo

Sanogo

On loan this season at Dutch side Ajax and even demoted to their reserves team, Yaya Sonogo also endured rather underwhelming spells in London with both Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

He was subject to constant criticism by our resident Arsenal fans, whilst this season has also been disastrous for the 22-year old, who has failed to start a single game for the Eredivisie side.

So it is no surprise that Gunners enthusiasts want to see the French forward sold as soon as possible, whilst our Landlord believes that the Frenchman is unlikely to ever reach the expectations that were held when he joined Arsenal from Auxerre in 2013.
