Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with their start to transfer proceedings this summer.

The Reds have already acquired Dominic Solanke and Mohammed Salah this summer, and the spending looks set to continue as the club look to improve their hopes of succeeding in the Champions League next season.

A whole host of targets has been the subject of Liverpool’s reported interest such as Virgil Van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

One individual who has dominated recent speculation is RB Leipzig’s, Naby Keita.

It is speculated that Keita is the subject of considerable interest from the Merseyside club, with Jurgen Klopp preparing a £70m bid for his services.

While his talent is unquestionable, there is an argument that the opportunity cost of signing Keita maybe too much.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The Englishman only has a year remaining on his Arsenal contract and therefore could be available for a lower price.

The 23-year-old will surely be thinking about departing North London this summer.

Chamberlain’s arrival would significantly improve the quality of Klopp’s squad considering the invaluable versatility that the Englishman attains.

Chamberlain can operate as an RWB, a holding midfielder or as a winger; this ability to function in multiple areas of the pitch would be of great benefit to the Reds as they look to challenge on all four fronts next season.

Edin Dzeko

Liverpool should also opt to return to AS Roma to continue their transfer activity.

Having already secured the arrival of Mohammed Salah, Liverpool should turn to Edin Dzeko.

The Reds have failed to replace Luis Suarez since his departure to Barcelona adequately, and while Edin Dzeko doesn’t represent a long-term replacement, he does certify goals.

The 31-year-old scored 72 goals in 189 games for Manchester City – a proven PL goalscorer – and he flaunts a stunning ratio of more than a goal every two games for Roma.

The Bosnian scored 39 goals in 51 games for Roma last season, sufficient proof that age is just a number.

Alex Telles

Lastly, Liverpool’s need for a left-back is apparent.

James Milner has done very well occupying that position, albeit he is not a natural defender and his abilities are better utilised further forward.

The 24-year-old would be a superb addition for most Premier League teams.

Telles is regarded for his outstanding attacking involvement as well as his solid defensive contribution; the Brazilian could be the perfect acquisition to address Klopp’s need for a natural full-back.

At the age of 24, he provides experience and longevity to Liverpool’s defence.
