The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern will certainly be satisfied with how their season is going right now, but they could be concerned by the Diego Costa debacle in the last week or so and how it could potentially destabilise their Premier League title challenge.

However, despite the absence of their top goalscorer against the top flight holders Leicester City on Saturday, the Blues ran out comfortable 3-0 winners with the likes of Marcos Alonso stepping up to the plate when it came to putting the ball in the back of the net – much to the relief of the punters standing at the bar.

Seven points clear at the summit, Antonio Conte’s men are in pole position to win the league trophy at the end of the campaign, but it hasn’t stopped the speculation that the Italian could look to further strengthen his squad this month.

One player the club has been linked with is Adama Traore, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough from Championship outfit Aston Villa – the landlord might need some convincing on this one though!

Here are THREE reasons why the former Barcelona starlet would be a sensational signing for the Blues…..

Pace

Whether he was a starter or being used from the substitutes’ bench, there is no doubt that Traore would add something to Chelsea’s attack – the fans in the tavern would certainly rise off of their bar stools for the young forward.

With his pace and his ability to push back and scare defenders, the 20-year-old would be a threat if the Blues were trying to break down a side at home, or whether they were looking to play on the counter attack on the road – still need convincing, landlord?

Competition for places

Despite their 13-match winning run and dominance at the top of the Premier League table since the end of September, there has been little competition for places in the wing-back areas and out wide in attack, and Traore would certainly provide Antonio Conte with another option as he would be able to cover any of those positions.

However, the winger will also look at the impact the previously sparsely-used Victor Moses has made this term and believe that he could also become a regular in the starting XI under the Italian boss – the landlord is definitely beginning to think he could be a good addition.

Potential

While has has perhaps shown on occasion during his loan spell at Middlesbrough this season that he doesn’t always have that final product – he is yet to pick up an assist for Boro in 14 Premier League appearances – Traore has certainly shown that he has the potential to be a very, very good player and one that would excite the Blues fans in the transfer tavern.

With his pace and skill already proving to be a thorn in top flight defences, if the 20-year-old can develop his impact in the final third and also work on the defensive side of his game – something that a manager like Antonio Conte demands – then there is really no limit to what the attacker can achieve if working in the right environment.
