Throughout their stay in the Premier League, Swansea have always found themselves around the mid table mark except for last season where it was looking for a time, like they might get relegated.
They eventually survived and finished 15th, seven points clear of the drop zone. Next season, Swansea will find themselves one of the favourites to go down as they, along with Watford and Burnley, are most likely to be fighting it out with the Premier League new boys, Brighton, Huddersfield, and Newcastle to stay in the top flight.
Should the relegation battle ensue, will Swansea have enough about them to come out on top? Our landlord doesn’t think so and here are three reasons why Swansea have a genuine chance of relegation next season.
They lack consistency
Swansea’s most consistent winning streak last season came with three wins in their last three games.
Apart from that, Swansea lacked any kind of winning form last season and couldn’t put together a string of wins until it was pretty much necessary to do so, to stay in the league.
If they don’t resolve this issue next season, then they could be in serious trouble.
Their squad is weak
On paper, the Swansea City squad does not look like a Premier League team. It could be argued that some of their players may be better suited to League One football.
Paul Clement is going to have his work cut out for him to get the best out of his side and transfer wise they haven’t accomplished much.
Then again, Swansea don’t have any kind of draw about them, making it all the more difficult to improve their side.
They might lose Sigurdsson
If they lose Sigurdsson, Swansea will lose one of their greatest ever players.
For the last three years, the Icelandic attacking midfielder has been the club’s best player by a country mile and has been winning The Swans points all by himself at times.
His set-piece ability along with his passing and leadership make him a priceless player for Swansea, and if he goes, who is going to take his place?
