There are a lot of talented players at Ibrox, though a lot of those are not used to being in the limelight being at one of the most famous clubs in the country brings.

The Gers were slaughtered by the media after the club’s defeat to Celtic, meaning Warburton came out straight away to criticise the media and protect his players.

People like Josh Windass, who signed from Accrington Stanley will not be used to the level of critique that he will be put under at a club like Rangers, so the protection from his manager will help his performances in the near future and in the long run.

Dealing with Problems

Warburton may be willing to defend his players, but he is definitely not going to accept any disruptive or unprofessional behaviour from any of them.

He has shown that in the way that he has dealt with Joey Barton following his training ground altercation with Andy Halliday.

The English midfielder has been suspended for three weeks, which shows that what he did is not acceptable but is also far from an indication that he is not welcome at the club.

Despite his reputation, the 34-year-old is a good player and could be an important member of the Rangers squad that looks to push Celtic, but only if he is managed right.

There has been a wide variety of recruitment from Warburton, his staff and the Rangers board, but there is a good balance that will help them do well this season and also builds for the future, all at a minimal cost.

Phillipe Senderos and Niko Kranjčar are examples of players who have big game experience and have both come in for free, while Josh Windass and Jordan Rossiter could become massive players for the club in the future, despite being relatively cheap.
