3 things we can expect from Claude Puel’s Southampton this season – Agreed?

The Saints in the Football Transfer Tavern have seen some great managers in charge of their club in recent years, but have also had to watch them leave.

Both Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman excited the Southampton supporters before leaving the club to join Premier League rivals.

Now our punters have Claude Puel leading the club and will hope that he will help the club to continue moving forward.

The Tavern landlord runs through what Southampton supporters and the rest of the Premier League can expect from the Saints under Claude Puel.

Do you agree with these expectations and where do you think Southampton will finish in the league this season?

Entertainment

Puel

Puel has always had his teams play an attacking style of football.

With players like Dusan Tadic and new signing Nathan Redmond at his disposal Saints fans should be in for some excitement.

Puel played under some great managers, with one of them being Arsene Wenger and like the current Arsenal manager likes to play a passing game, and so punters can expect to see Ward Prowse and other talented players coming into their own under the Frenchman and entertaining supporters.

Youngsters

James Ward-Prowse

Southampton has a great reputation for bringing through talented youngsters and so does Claue Puel.

He worked with a young Karim Benzema and Southampton will be hoping that he will be able to bring through another player of that calibre from the Saints’ academy.

Southampton have already brought through players such as Gareth Bale and Luke Shaw and with the club’s brilliant academy system and Puel’s record with youngsters, it seems as though there could be some new names writing their names into Southampton’s history.

Desire

St Mary's

This is the first time that Claude Puel has managed outside of France.

Despite the success that he has had there, he will be determined to get success in the Premier League and show that he can do well outside of his native land.

His players will also have a lot of desire to do well on the pitch, an example being Shane Long, who is very aggressive in his play and will look to cement a place as Southampton’s star striker now that Graziano Pellé has left the club.
