It’s been business as usual for Celtic in the opening three fixtures of the Scottish Premiership’s new season.

The Bhoys have seen off all three of their opponents in their opening league games whilst racking up seven goals and conceding just one which has made our landlord believe there is more to come from Brendan Rodgers’ men this season.

The Celtic fans in the Tavern agree and they want to see the impetus put on delivering in European football this season with high hopes placed on the progress of Rodgers’ men. The feeling is that the standard of Scottish football will not improve enough to challenge Celtic this season and see how good the Bhoys really are, their squad have to really pull their finger out in the European competition.

In contrast to this, our landlord still believes Brendan Rodgers’ men need to stay motivated in the league and this weekend’s fixture against St Johnstone is another chance for to show the Scottish Premier League who are the bosses.

He has outlined the lineup that Rodgers must pick to demolish St. Johnstone and get another valuable three points in the process.

GK: Craig Gordon

The Celtic keeper sometimes may as well not be there but when called upon, Gordon never lets his side down.

The Hoops in the Tavern are thankful to have the Scotland number one in their side and he really lays a great foundation from the back to allow his side to play.

RB: Mikael Lustig

An ever dependable member of the Celtic side, Lustig has become a cult hero among the Bhoys in the Tavern.

Anthony Ralston filled in for Lustig last weekend as the 30-year-old was rested for the midweek Champions League qualifier but our landlord fully expects to see Lustig line up against St Johnstone.

CB: Nir Bitton

With Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata out until September with various injuries, Bitton has had to fill in at centre back for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The Israeli is usually a robust midfielder for the Bhoys so the physical aspect of playing at centre back has not affected him and he has looked at home during the first few weeks of the Scottish Premier League.

CB: Jozo Simunovic

The only fit natural centre-back at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal, Simunovic really has had to lead the defence in the first few weeks of this season.

It hasn’t gone too badly for the23-year-old who has only seen his side concede the singular goal in the league so far.

LB: Kieran Tierney

The punters in the Tavern are excited about this lad which has led to many of the Celtic fans worrying about the future of one of their star players.

Our landlord agrees that if Tierney keeps going the way he is, then he will be at a Premier League club sooner rather than later.

CM: Scott Brown

The Celtic skipper has started his season in much the way he finished last season and there is no easy battle for any opposition midfield when Brown is in the side.

Our resident Bhoys love Brown’s passion and hope he can lead their side to another bundle of trophies this season.

CM: Olivier Ntcham

The Frenchman has really caught the eye since his move from Manchester City in the summer and our landlord feels we can expect big things from Ntcham in the future.

The 21-year-old is looking to replicate the excitement that surrounded Moussa Dembele last season after his arrival at Celtic Park and if his start is anything to go by, he should do just that.

RM: James Forrest

A real asset to this Celtic side, Forrest saw himself used as a striker in last weekend’s win against Kilmarnock but our landlord expects a more familiar role on the wing for the Scotsman against St. Johnstone.

Forrest will be a content threat to the Bhoys’ opponents this weekend as he looks to continue his fine form.

CAM: Tom Rogic

The Australian will be the creative hub of this Celtic side and if he continues his decent start to the season then St. Johnstone will be in trouble.

Celtic fans in the Tavern are expecting Rogic to unlock the St. Johnstone multiple times with his creativity in this one.

LM: Scott Sinclair

Sinclair is perhaps the most exciting of Celtic’s attacking player and in his second season with the club, the expectation on the Englishman is bigger than when he first joined.

His goal scoring threat is what will be his biggest asset this season as he looks to bring another league title to Celtic Park.

ST: Leigh Griffiths

With Moussa Dembele out injured, Griffiths has carried the goal scoring mantle for the early part of the season and our landlord believes that the Scotsman’s experience will be vital in Celtic’s push for another domestic triumph as well as progress in European competition.
