While their 4-0 thumping of Swansea City in the weekend just gone was obviously nice for the Arsenal fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern to watch, many of our north London locals are resigned to another failed title tilt.

Still, perhaps the Gunners propping up the bar shouldn’t be so resigned to Arsene Wenger’s attempts to deliver an elusive fourth Premier League title to north London this quickly. On Sunday, they host a Burnley side who aren’t exactly the happiest of travellers.

Though trailing league leaders Chelsea by eight points is barely an ideal situation right now, the north London giants can only try and win against what is in front of them as they attempt to close the gap. So, with Tottenham playing Manchester City in a huge clash, they at least have a favourable game ahead of them.

With that in mind, here’s the 4-2-3-1 formation Le Prof should field to smash the Clarets.

GK: Petr Cech

There’s little more that can be said about Petr Cech, who has finally sorted out the previously long-running goalkeeping problem the Gunners had to deal with. Must have won them a crazy amount of points since signing in the summer of 2015.

RB: Hector Bellerin

With all due respect to Burnley, they are likely to sit behind the ball for swathes of the game on Sunday as the Gunners dominate possession.

To that end, Bellerin’s searing pace can be a direct outlet to break behind enemy lines.

CB: Laurent Koscielny

Arsenal’s rock at the back, the classy Frenchman notched a controversial winner in the reverse fixture between the two earlier this term. A huge part of Wenger’s side.

CB: Shkodran Mustafi

Has finally given the aforementioned Frenchman a classy central defensive partner and the World Cup winner is looking like money very well spent indeed. His return from injury has been vitally important.

LB: Nacho Monreal

One of the most reliable left-backs in the league, the Spaniard is a stalwart of this Arsenal side.

CDM: Francis Coquelin

Should shake off an injury to make the game against the Clarets, the Frenchman is a vital cog in this side. Ferocious in the tackle, he was recently handed a new deal as a result of his good performances over the past few years.

CDM: Granit Xhaka

While he’s not exactly the most disciplined of defensive midfielders, the passing range and physicality Granit Xhaka brings gives Arsenal a dimension they’ve not had in years.

A great signing.

RW: Alex Iwobi

Though Alex Iwobi is still learning his craft in Arsenal’s first-team, the Nigerian starlet is a joy to watch when the Gunners are in full flow and his creativity can help break down even the most stubborn of defences.

CAM: Mesut Ozil

Capped off his return to the side against Swansea City with a decent performance in south Wales and the German’s majestic No.10 play will be a huge worry to the visiting Lancashire outfit. Building up his match fitness is a huge priority ahead of the business end of the campaign.

LW: Alexis Sanchez

Has cut a frustrated figure over the last few weeks, though the Chilean linking up with Ozil and Iwobi behind a strong central striker creates one of the most fluid frontlines in the Premier League.

Essential to any hopes they still harbour of winning the title.
