The Spurs fans are in the Tavern tonight and despite a lack of signings, they remain optimistic about their chances of finally clinching the Premier League title this season.
In the past few years, Tottenham have become a powerhouse in English football in every sense of the word.
Except in their trophy cabinet.
Having come so close to Premier League glory in the last two seasons, Mauricio Pochettino’s side kick off their 2017/18 Premier League campaign at St James’ Park against Newcastle and will be hoping to pick up all three points.
Despite making absolutely no signings so far during this summer transfer window, Spurs still have one of the strongest starting 11s in the league so Newcastle can be assured a tough day at the office on Sunday.
Undoubtedly pushing for the title this time around, a winning start will be crucial for the rest of the campaign for the London side.
With that being said, here is the starting 11 that Pochettino must go with to beat Newcastle on Sunday.
Hugo Lloris
The captain of both Tottenham and the French national side, Hugo Lloris is the obvious choice between the sticks.
He kept the second most clean sheets in the league last season and conceded the least amount of goals for any keeper who played over 20 league games.
Kieran Trippier
If Pochettino doesn’t make any new signings then it looks like Kieran Trippier will be the replacement for Kyle Walker.
He did go off with a little ankle injury against Juventus however so Pochettino will be hoping that doesn’t turn into anything more.
Toby Alderweireld
