The Potters endured a tough start to the season, though after getting a few good results, they will be looking to climb the table once more.

They’ve have been very consistent over the years, finishing ninth in the last three seasons, and so they are going to be confident that they are going to climb the table, looking to continue their ascent here.

GK: Lee Grant

Stoke had looked as though they were desperately missing their first-choice goalkeeper Jack Butland before Grant came in from Derby.

The 33-year-old has been imperious between the sticks so far and gives the Potters a very solid platform.

RB: Phil Bardsley

He hasn’t had too many chances at Stoke in recent times, but due to the injury sustained by Glen Johnson, Phil Bardsley should definitely be starting this game.

CB: Ryan Shawcross

A very reliable centre-back, Ryan Shawcross will lead the Stoke defence and make sure that Swansea City have trouble getting any sort of goal scoring opportunity.

A massive presence, he’s strong in the tackle and is formidable in the air, so he is a vital part of the Stoke City defence.

CB: Bruno Martins Indi

Seemingly growing into his role in the Premier League, he’s a more robust partner to the aforementioned Shawcross and this could be a good fixture in which to further establish himself on these shores.

Will need to keep his eyes on Swansea’s fluid movement.

LB: Erik Pieters

Pieters has tied down the starting spot at Stoke City and will be a solid player for his side, completing what is a very good defence that will be difficult for Swansea to get past.

Also a threat going forward.

CDM: Geoff Cameron

The American international has put in some rather impressive performances since moving from centre-back to the holding midfield role.

Disciplined enough to give the side a solid base, allowing the roaming forwards to wreak havoc.

CDM: Glenn Whelan

He may not be the most entertaining player to watch, but Glen Whelan is a very useful player, who will help Stoke to break down Swansea’s play and stay on top of the game.

Absolutely crucial to the club, keeping the ball ticking over well.

RW: Xherdan Shaqiri

The former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich man is capable of some spectacular moments and performances, as everyone in the Tavern saw from his two goals against Hull City.

However, a lot of people will say that he doesn’t have these sort of games anywhere near enough, so the Swiss international will be determined to show that he can come up with the goods more often.

CAM: Joe Allen

Joe Allen is on fire at the moment after getting goals for both his country, in what was a great scoring run.

The Welshman seems to get better and better every week and will surely be relishing playing against his former charges.

LW: Marko Arnautovic

One of the more direct players in Stoke’s setup, the Austrian is looking dangerous as he takes up good positions in support of the central striker.

Pace and power, he’s likely to cause problems with his clever movement.

ST: Wilfried Bony

Another playing his former side, Wilfried Bony could really do with rediscovering the sort of form he showed while with the Swans.

Still, the Ivorian remains a genuine threat and will be itching to get off the mark for the Potters.
