We here at the Transfer Tavern have been surprised by the start that West Brom have made this season and, as we head into the business end of the campaign, it’s important that they maintain their form.

This weekend they face yet another hurdle in the league as they face high flying Tottenham – who themselves have lofty ambitions – with them battling for the title this season.

Spurs beat Chelsea last time out, of course, and could be set for the crown in the final season at White Hart Lane but if there’s any side ready to spoil the beginnings of a party – it’s West Brom.

Tony Pulis will be looking to add to his side this January to maintain their season, as they’ve had some brilliant performers this campaign and consistency has been key for the Baggies thus far.

So with that, if West Brom field this team, our landlord reckons they will surely surprise Tottenham on Saturday…

GK: Ben Foster

An ever reliable goalkeeper.

Foster has been very much that for the Baggies this season and when fit will always be number one ahead of Boaz Myhill.

RB: Craig Dawson

The English defender has been a hit at full-back for Tony Pulis’ side this season thus far and has worked like the model professional that he is. No need to change a system that is working so well!

CB: Jonny Evans

Evans should be back from a slight injury knock.

The former Manchester United defender has really got his career underway at West Brom and has been a rock at the back in the surge up the table the Baggies have made this season.

CB: Gareth McAuley

The Northern Irish veteran has been superb in the partnership formed by himself and Evans.

Not only are they a brick wall at the back but they can cause any side problems going forward from set-plays too.

LB: Allan Nyom

A great summer signing from Premier League rivals Watford.

Nyom has been a consistent figure in the West Brom set-up in the brilliant season that the Baggies have encountered so far.

CDM: Darren Fletcher

The Scotland international and West Brom captain has been superb in the last line of the West Brom midfield this season.

The former United midfielder was tipped for big things by his former gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson and recently Fletcher has really shown why Sir Alex had so much faith in him.

CDM: James Morrison

The Scottish midfielder can play pretty much anywhere in the midfield and always puts a great shift in for his club.

He has been superb for the Baggies this season and rightfully takes his place in this side.

RAM: Nacer Chadli

The former Spurs man could come back the haunt his former club as he did earlier on in the season, and dent their title prospects.

The Belgian moved to The Hawthorns in the summer much to the surprise of many and has been arguably one of the best signings of the season.

CAM: Hal Robson-Kanu

The Welsh forward was superb in the Euros for his country which earned him his move to the Premier League and West Brom on a free transfer.

It took him some time for to break into the side but he has been in great form lately which has earned him his spot in the team.

LAM: Matt Phillips

Alongside Chadli, Phillips has easily been a key player for the success his side has had so far this season.

He can cause problems for the Spurs defence this Saturday and could be key if the Baggies are to surprise Tottenham.

ST: Salomon Rondon

The Venezuelan striker has been in great form since arriving from Zenit last season.

He’s proven to be a vital goal scorer for Tony Pulis’ side this campaign and can cause all kinds of problems for even the most solid of defenders. His strength is key to the way he plays and it could be too much for Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
