The resident Gooners here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are simply appalled at how their current season is panning out, with them all simply wanting the season to end.

It went from bad to worse for the Gunners after they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on the weekend, which saw them drop out of the top four.

However, with that in the back of their minds, Arsenal could cause a shock against Bayern with not much to play for.

It looks like after over two decades in charge at Arsenal, that Arsene Wenger’s days are slowly becoming numbered and come next season for the first time since 1996, there could well be a new manager in the Arsenal dug-out.

But for now, Wenger will be looking to try and keep his pride in tact with this potentially being his last Champions League fixture at the club, and with it being 5-1 already, all they can really do is hope to cause one of the biggest shocks in the competition’s history to progress.

Our landlord thinks this starting XI could well cause that much needed shock and pick up a win, even if just for pride and nothing else….

GK: DAVID OSPINA

For some reason Cech does not seem to feature in this competition this season and that has led to David Ospina featuring thus far, and despite conceding five goals in the first leg, he actually had a solid game and could of been man of the match.

He’ll need to put in a shift if he is to help his side come out on top this Tuesday night.

LB: KIERAN GIBBS

Gibbs had been out of favour at the club last season and many thought he’d head for the exit, especially with just how well Nacho Monreal was performing.

However this season, Monreal hasn’t been as consistent and it’s seen Gibbs step in and put in some brilliant performances and he’ll have his work cut out with Frank Ribery if he starts.

CB: LAURENT KOSCIELNY

The French defender has been superb this season and also lead from the back at times for the Gunners.

The 31-year-old will need to be at his very best at the back to stop the power front-line that Bayern possess in Lewandowski, Robben and Ribery.

He’s no stranger to big games having featured in a number in his career with Arsenal thus far and this one will be no different for the French international defender.

CB: SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

The German international will hope to get one over on his international team mates in this fixture and try to pick up a victory.

The former Valencia man will be in for one hell of a busy night, but if he can put in a performance that we here at the bar know he can, then he should be just fine.

RB: HECTOR BELLERIN

The 21-year-old Spanish international has been superb since breaking into the team and it’ll be really hard for the Gunners to keep hold of him this summer, but for right now he’s at the club and will need to be as much of a nuisance as we here at the Tavern know he can be.

His pace could cause the Bayern team problems, he just needs to ensure he puts in a shift and he’ll be just fine.

CDM: FRANCIS COQUELIN

He’s had his critics at times, but Coquelin has shown some great potential in the last three seasons and has shown how at times of just how valuable to the team he is.

Coquelin hasn’t been at his best in the last couple of seasons but we cannot for a second doubt his natural ability and his passion when he’s on the pitch.

He’ll have to put in a shift against the strong Bayern midfield to ensure his side aren’t on the back of yet another Bayern hammering.

CDM: GRANIT XHAKA

He’s got quite the reputation in Germany and Bayern will be well aware of it, and well we’ve seen it here at the Transfer Tavern whilst he’s been here in England with Arsenal.

He’ll need to keep his temper in check in this game, it would make matters even worse should the Gunners find themselves with ten men in the game.

But even with his poor temperament and lack of discipline at times, you cannot doubt the lad’s talent.

LW: ALEX IWOBI

The Nigerian has really burst onto the scene at the Emirates Stadium this season and our landlord feels he’ll start for the Gunners.

The 20-year-old struggled against Liverpool on the weekend, but we fancy him to be given a starting berth against the Bavarian giants on Tuesday evening.

CAM: ALEXIS SANCHEZ

Only Wenger knows what on earth was going on in his mind when he decided to leave a fully fit Alexis Sanchez on the bench against Liverpool, and it showed when he came on and set up Welbeck for their only goal of the game.

In this game, if Arsenal are to have any kind of hope of getting the win, then they will need Sanchez on the field of play and not sat sulking on the bench!

RW: THEO WALCOTT

This spot could of gone to either Walcott or Oxlade-Chamberlain, but we think Theo has the edge in this fixture.

With his record of scoring in important Champions League games and also at vital times, it makes sense.

He’ll need a big game this Tuesday night at the Emirates, if they are to overturn Bayern Munich and his experience will hopefully shine through in his game.

He’ll hopefully be able to cause problems for the Bayern defence.

ST: DANNY WELBECK

This could bring a mix set of reactions from the Arsenal punters here at the Transfer Tavern, but the England striker knows where the net is and even finished sublimely in the Liverpool fixture.
He would offer a threat that Bayern may not be expecting, as he is completely different in style to Giroud and his pace could cause problems for the Bayern back four.

He needs to keep playing now he is back, not just for the club’s sake, but his and our country.

He’s a superb forward with a natural instinct that is much desired!
