The Chelsea supporters here at the Football Transfer Tavern feel like some of their academy graduates might finally be making an impact for the club’s first team.

The punters are getting excited about some of the younger talent coming through and feel like they will show what they are capable of, when they come up against Werder Bremen in their upcoming friendly.

The landlord of the Tavern goes through who could be playing for Chelsea in their next fixture as they look to make up for their loss against Real Madrid, in the build up to one of their most important seasons in recent years.

Asmir Begovic

The Chelsea back up keeper has had a lot of game time in pre season due to Thibaut Courtois’ involvement in Euro 2016.

He is a great shot stopper and a big presence in the box and defenders will be confident with the Bosnian behind them. He has kept two clean sheets in pre season should start the game against Bremen, although it is expected that his starting place will soon be taken back by Courtois.

Ola Aina

Before this pre season he was unknown to most football fans, but now he is being considered to have a chance of beating Ivanovic to a place in the first team when the season starts.

He is comfortable both going forward and defending and Conte seems to like him, as the 19 year old has been given a lot of game time this pre season. Aina will be eager to impress, as it would be a massive achievement for him to become first choice ahead of the ageing Ivanovic.

John Terry

The Chelsea captain will be a vital player for Conte as the new manager looks to get his ideas across to his players.

Terry leads by example and even though it is a pre season game, he will be willing to put his body on the line to make sure that Chelsea win and that the manager sees his quality.

After being left out at times last season, Terry will be determined to make sure that Conte has no choice but to play him.

Gary Cahill

Cahill has struck up a good partnership with John Terry and should accompany him in central defence.

He has already scored one goal in pre season and Antonio Conte will be looking to make sure that his likely centre back partnership work as a good pair and that they are able to lead the team in how the manager wants them to play.

Zouma is still injured, so until then, Cahill and Terry will be the undisputed centre back pairing.

Cesar Azpilicueta

The Spaniard is one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League.

Unlike Aina, he doesn’t venture forward very often and because of this, it looks like Chelsea have three at the back at times.

He is very good defensively and even though he is naturally a right back, he has done very well since being played at left back and it looks as though he will stay in that position.

Nathaniel Chalobah

It looked as though Chalobah was never going to get anywhere near the Chelsea team, but he has performed very well this pre season, and could be putting himself in contention with the level of performance he is showing.

His last loan, at Napoli will have benefited him a lot as it showed him what it is like to be in and around the first team at a side at the top end of the table.

It is unknown whether he will play for Chelsea this season, but his pre season will give him a chance.

Nemanja Matic

With N’Golo Kante coming into the side, there is a lot of talk about whether Matic is going to be pushed out of the side.

However after being forced to leave Chelsea once, the Serbian won’t want to do that again.

Kante has just come back from the Euros, which means he won’t get much time at pre season and this means Matic will get a chance to prove his worth to the manager and will be determined to do just that.

Willian

The Brazilian playmaker is one of very few Chelsea players to come out of last season receiving praise.

He is composed on the ball and has great technical ability and he will be a key player for this Chelsea side.

He could maybe do with scoring a few goals, but that will come, as he is great from free kicks and can finish very well at times.

Juan Cuadrado

It seemed as though his time at Chelsea would be over before it had begun, but with Antonio Conte coming in, the Colombian may have another chance to get into the Chelsea fold.

The fact that he has played under Antonio Conte and did well under him will give the player hope.

Cuadrado has electric pace and great skill and will trouble any defender that he comes up against and he will look to get a few goals as well.

Bertrand Traore

Traore is one of very few Chelsea academy graduates who have managed to make even the slightest impact on the first team in recent times.

He has come off the bench on multiple occasions and picked up four goals so far.

He will trouble Werder Bremen’s defence and could show the finishing touch that has got him involved with the Chelsea first team, as he looks to kick on under Conte and become more of a regular.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

He has primarily been a central midfielder player for Chelsea, however in pre season his role has been more as a striker.

With Diego Costa seemingly out of the door and Michy Batshuayi still recovering from Euro 2016, he has been given the responsibility of the leading the line at times in pre-season and has done well.

He has the physicality and technique to do it but could maybe do with scoring a few more goals.

If he can get a goal against Milan he could force himself into Conte’s longer term plans.
