The players are now back in pre season training and the buzz is back amongst the fans who can’t wait for the new campaign to begin.

One club it has been all change at this season is SPL champions Celtic, who replaced former manager Ronny Deila with former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers had a great spell in charge at Anfield and all was going well until the club had a torrid start to last season and he was replaced at the helm by Jurgen Klopp.

With new managers come new players and new systems for all to get used too and Rodgers made a coup of a signing this week when he signed Moussa Dembele from Fulham.

With more players expected and obvious links to former players it is set to be an interesting next few weeks at Celtic.

With the added incentive of an Old Firm fixture back on the calendar, Rodgers knows how important it is to sign the right players for the season ahead especially for the atmosphere created in such a match.

So, our landlord here has been looking at a list of potential targets and current squad players and feels of Rodgers gets the players he wants this could be the starting lineup for the opening weekend of fixtures on 6th August.

Craig Gordon

The experienced shot stopper will be an integral part of the Celtic side next season.

Has always been talented between the sticks and was brought to the club by previous manager Ronny Deila.

Good at commanding his area and a strong shot stopper, he could play a key role in close games next season.

Emilio Izaguirre

The Honduran international has been part of the Bhoys’ side for sometime and his experience will be crucial to the backline.

He is assured in defence and more than capable of playing his part as an attacking threat down the flank for the green side of Glasgow.

Has now made over 220 appearances for the Hoops since arriving in 2010 following and impressive performance in the World Cup in South Africa.

Shane Duffy

The 24-year old is reportedly a target for Rodgers side and has more than held his own at EURO 2016 this summer.

The Blackburn defender showed he is more than capable of playing for one of Europe’s best known teams, with a formidable display against Italy in the Irish’s final group game that earnt his country qualification to the round of 16 stage of the tournament.

Will cost Celtic around £2 million to secure his services after signing for Blackburn in 2014, coming through the youth ranks at Everton.

Kolo Toure

A former player of Rodgers from his time at Anfield seeing his time on Merseyside end this summer when he wasn’t offered a new deal with the club.

Has wealth of club and international experience and would bring the attitude of giving 100% to the cause whenever selected for the team.

Has experience of winning titles during his time at at both Arsenal and Manchester City and could be a shrewd signing if Rodgers could convince the right move him is a move to Scotland.

Efe Ambrose

The combative Nigerian is another versatile player that Rodgers has at his disposal.

Comfortable playing anywhere across the backline he was a main player in the club’s attacking forays last season.

Since joining the club in the summer of 2012 the Nigerian has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club and has become someone who you can’t leave out of your match day line up.

Charlie Mulgrew

The Scottish international has really developed into a quality operator over the last couple of seasons for Celtic.

Another player who can play in defence or midfield he has that combative edge that you need in your engine room.

Covered really well for Scott Brown when he was injured and when back he formed a great partnership with his captain in front of the back four.

Scott Brown

Mr Celtic himself puts his body on the line for the cause which causes him to get into trouble with referees and players alike.

His combative nature has seen off some of the best midfield players in European football and his heart on his sleeve performances make him firm favourite with the fans at Celtic Park.

Joined the club from Hibernian back in 2007 and has gone on to make nearly 250 appearances for the Celtic Park club.

Scott Sinclair

Another player linked with summer move to Celtic Park this summer following Aston Villa’s relegation to the Championship last season.

Came through the ranks at Chelsea, before making a name for himself following a permanent move to Swansea City which earned him a big money move to Manchester City.

A player who has pace to burn and is not frightened to take a defender on to put a great ball in.

Would no doubt become a firm favourite with the fans at Celtic should he sign and would add no end to the list of options for Rodgers next season should a move be agreed.

Stuart Armstrong

Another player who has impressed throughout his time at Celtic Park since joining the club from Dundee United.

Impressive performances for the side earned him a call up to the Scottish national side for their EURO 2016 qualifiers against Georgia and Germany.

Since arriving at the club he has appeared on 56 occasions scoring six times from midfield.

Gary Mackay-Steven

The former Dundee United man made the move to Celtic with the aforementioned Stuart Armstrong.

Leigh Griffiths

The Scottish international has rediscovered his goal scoring touch since arriving at the club on a permanent deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the January transfer window of 2014.

An impressive spell in front of goal for the side last season saw him score 40 goals in 51 league and cup appearances which showed how important he is to the sides successes.

His impressive goalscoring feats of last season left him with career stats of 178 goals in 328 first team appearances.

Moussa Dembele

The 19-year old arrived at Celtic this week from Championship side Fulham.

Was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in January the youngster decided the move to Scotland was best for his career after being impressed with what Brendan Rodgers had to say.

Coming through the youth ranks at Paris St Germain he made the move to West London and made himself a firm fan favourite last season at Craven Cottage, after scoring 15 goals in 43 appearances for the London side last season.
