4 dream defensive signings Klopp should consider for Liverpool

Here at the Transfer Tavern our Landlord notice a rowdy group of Liverpool supporter’s making their way up to the bar, they ordered their drinks and began discussing football life in the Premier League.

Inevitably our Landlord asked them what they thought about Jürgen Klopp and what he needs to do at Liverpool to bring some success back to Anfield.

The Anfield faithful have been starved of success and there is renewed hope around Liverpool but they believe Klopp can bring some glory make to Merseyside. However, our punter declared they need to tighten up the defence.

Rather than a massive overhaul, our regulars believe just a few changes to the defensive ranks can breath a fresh of life into the underperforming squad. They’ve clearly been thinking about it as they suggested some dream targets

Here are four suggestions that our resident Liverpool fans suggested Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp should consider signing.

Fabian Delph

This is a surprise sprung by the Liverpool fans in The Transfer Tavern but it’s certainly one worth thinking about.

Delph is young athletic player and plays high tempo at full throttle. As a ball winner with good distribution, he’d be the ideal Klopp signing.

A perfect player to play in front of the back four to give them that extra bit of protection, and another England international, it could work. Since joining Manchester City he hasn’t had much in the way of game time and could consider a move to guarantee more first team action.

Mat Hummels

Hummels

Top of our Kop friends defensive shortlist, the obvious link here is that Klopp knows the player from his time at  German club Borussia Dortmund.

Rumour has it Hummels is not entirely happy in Dortmund and could be available for a transfer- and he would also jump at the chance to work once more with his former manager.

The German Defender can also play as a holding midfielder if needed and can pose a threat from set pieces, having scored two goals in the Bundesliga.

Ricardo Rodriguez

Wolfsburg left back would fit in nicely into Klopp’s philosophy and tactical system, and he is a player Jürgen knows very well after coming up against him numerous times in Germany.

The talented left back can play anywhere on the left side, though at the back is his primary position. Capable of playing further forward though, it strengthens the depth in Klopp’s ranks significantly.

An extremely talented, quick and energetic player, Rodriguez would be brilliant in the Premier League and a very welcome addition in the Klopp revolution.

John Stones

Our Red friends suggested a player from across Stanley Park, which stunned faces at the bar, but the punters believe that although not many players have made the trip between the two sides, Stones would be perfect and money talks.

Stones would fit the bill perfectly at Anfield as he is good on the ball, calm under pressure, extremely fit and, most of all, plays with passion- though the latter may be the downfall in these Liverpool fan’s dreams.
