West Ham supporters at the Football Transfer Tavern were toasting the signing of Olympiakos defender Arthur Masuaku when he was announced. However, some are sceptical that he is up to the standard for the Irons first season at the London Stadium.

The Hammers still have time to go straight back into the market, and will want top class cover for their injured left back, Aaron Creswell, by the time that their season starts against Chelsea on Monday.

The West Ham regulars at the Tavern want somebody with Premier League experience, so our Landlord  has highlighted FOUR options that West Ham could be going for. Who would you take out of these players…

Martin Olsson

It seems as though the Swedish international is the most likely option for the Hammers at the moment because of his price. The 28-year-old is also used to the role that he would have at West Ham, he has been the back up left back to Liam Brady since the Republic of Ireland star joined Norwich.

Punters may want to see the club be a bit more ambitious though, seeing as the new acquisition left back could be Slaven Bilic’s main choice for a big chunk of the season.

Kieran Gibbs

The England international has been playing in the Premier League for a number of years now, however he has lost his place in the Arsenal team to Nacho Monreal.

If he is it to get regular first team football again and get his career on track, then he needs to get a move away from The Emirates. A loan move could be a short term fix for both clubs and the player, as Wenger wouldn’t have to pay his wages, West Ham would have their short term replacement for Cresswell and Gibbs would get game time.

Andrew Robertson

Hull City are looking like a team in meltdown, with their troubles well documented, so they won’t want to part ways with one of their best players.

However, if West Ham can test the Tigers resolve and strike up a deal, Robertson would be a brilliant addition. The Scotsman has impressed in both the Premier League and Championship before and has accrued 10 caps at international level.

He would be a brilliant replacement for Cresswell while he is injured and would mean Bilic would have two good options at left back when he returns, which could be needed with all the games West Ham will be playing.

Charlie Taylor

Charlie Taylor may not have Premier League experience but he is a very exciting player, coming from Leeds United, where the Hammers poached Sam Byram from in the January transfer window.

The Irons have bought other players from the Championship in recent years and had success, with Michail Antonio coming in from Nottingham Forest and Aaron Cresswell joining from Ipswich. If they fail to land some of their targets with top flight experience, Taylor could be a great alternative.
