So new Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers first competitive game in charge of the club was meant to be a breeze, but it turned out to be anything but and the punters from North of the border here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been bemoaning the squad ever since.

A disjointed performance from the Scottish champions saw them succumb to a Champions League qualifying round first-leg defeat to Gibraltan part timers, Lincoln Red Imps.

Much was expected from the side but my did they fail miserably, losing every battle on the pitch and leaving the fans airing their frustration at the side and via all forms of social media.

They never looked up for the match and although the club will probably win next weeks second-leg and qualify for the next stage, it makes you wonder if they will make it past the next qualifying round against a more recognised name.

Many of our Celtic regulars feel that the former Liverpool boss should replace the whole squad, and after the performance on Tuesday night and it is understandable to see why!

So looking at the side that turned out for the Bhoys on Tuesday night the Landlord here in The Football Transfer Tavern has come up with FOUR names Brendan Rodgers should look to part company with before the season gets underway fully…

Scott Brown

It was by far the captains worst performance in a Celtic shirt and he looked completely lost in the middle of the park.

It appears that age has caught up with the proud Scotsman and he doesn’t appear to have the same bite that he is known for, his legs appear to be gone and Rodgers should be looking to replace the stalwart now.

Efe Ambrose

The once popular Ambrose is another whose best years seem to be behind him, the 27-year-old appeared totally out of his depth at centre half.

The Nigerian international was all at sea when Lincoln got their goal and was anything but the reliable player he once was, many fans feel he should never wear the shirt again and the Landlord agrees that, should someone come in for him, Rodgers should cut his losses and let Ambrose leave.

Nir Bitton

Well, there are not enough words to state how disappointing the effort the Israeli put in on Tuesday was for many faithful Hoops fans.

He looked disinterested and gave one of the most terrible performances ever seen by a player in a Celtic shirt.

Our Landlord feels that if Espanyol come back with anywhere near the £6m they tabled previously, Celtic should bite their hand of and get rid.

James Forrest

The 25-year-old was brought on as a substitute to change the game and did anything but, another disappointing performance from the right winger.

Has had enough opportunities to prove his worth to the club and has again failed to deliver, another Rodgers should cut his losses with as there are far better wingers available who will give you the effort that the Celtic faithful deserve.
