Our resident Arsenal supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are excited about this summer, having already secured a deal for Granit Xhaka!
A name being linked with the Emirates Stadium is Empoli winger Riccardo Saponara, according to The Daily Star.
The 24-year-old plays for Serie A side Empoli and has contributed five goals and ten assists from out wide for the Italian club.
Saponara’s arrival could come at the expense of Theo Walcott who has failed to impress this season and this has cost him his place in Roy Hodgson’s EURO 2016 England squad, for this summer in France.
If Saponara does join Arsenal it’ll be Wenger’s first foray into this summer’s transfer market, but is unlikely to be the last as the Gunners look to build on their second place this season.
For many Arsenal are just a couple of players away from securing their first league title in over a decade, but with the amount of games football clubs pla,y the bigger the squad is usually – bar Leicester- the better.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan
The Dortmund player had looked set to join a Premier League club a few seasons ago in the shape of Liverpool.
This deal however never came to pass and the Armenian attacking midfielder chose to move to Dortmund.
One of the reasons he chose the German giants was for Champions League football and this would not be a problem for Arsenal, who are set to be in Europe’s premier cup competition once again next season.
Moussa Sissoko
Arguably Newcastle’s best player, it’s unlikely Sissoko will want to play in the Championship for the Magpies.
Sissoko would be unlike any other midfield option Arsenal have providing energy and a box to box mentality.
Given Newcastle went down this year, the Frenchman would probably be available for a relatively cheap price and this may be enough to tempt Arsenal to lodge a bid.
Alvaro Morata
Arsenal need another goalscorer to cover when Olivier Giroud is not in form.
Giroud can look like one of the best in the world on his day, but similarly he can look completely off-pace.
Morata is a young player with plenty of top class experience at Real Madrid and Juventus, and scores goals as well as making them.
He has scored eleven and provided 12 for the Turin side this season, and that return would be very welcome for the Gunners.
N’Golo Kante
Kante is a similar player to Sissoko and is the perfect profile of what Arsenal lack in the centre of the pitch.
Kante covers every blade of grass, making tackles and cutting out passes.
He’s a large part of why Leicester have won the league and it’s testament to his ability that you couldn’t argue with the fact that if he was to wear an Arsenal shirt next season, they would be the ones lifting the Premier League trophy come May.
