With the English footballing season over half way through, clubs will be assessing their efforts so far and looking into the transfer market to bolster their squad and push on with their aims.
Whilst clubs will be looking to recruit players who will improve their respective squads, the players themselves may find themselves taking a step down from a bigger club to a smaller club for a variety of reasons.
Whether their motivation to depart their current club is a lack of playing time, an ongoing dispute or something else, Premier League players who are available for sale often attract the interests of Championship outfits who are looking to gain promotion to the top tier or even to simply gain an experience footballer.

Charlie Adam
Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has recently been linked with a loan switch with Wolverhampton and Brighton, with reports suggesting that he desires more regular football.
Adam was a key component in the Blackpool side that won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League for the first time back in 2010.
The 30-year old only signed a new deal at the club last summer and he currently has 18 months remaining on his contract, but recent indications point to a move away from the Britannia Stadium.
The ex-Liverpool man was a key player in the Stoke side early on this season and has started 10 league games.
But the Scotland international has managed to play the full 90 minutes in the league on just 5 occasions this term, whilst he has failed to claim a single goal or assist in the Premier League this season.
Patrick Bamford
Another player who could be set to make a move back to the Championship is Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, who has previously spent spells on loan at Derby and Middlesbrough.
His spell at the latter club last season was particularly impressive, where he was the club’s top goalscorer for the season with 19 goals in total.
However, his loan spell at Premier League outfit Crystal Palace this season failed to live up to the same heights and reports suggest that Bamford terminated the loan himself due to a lack of playing time.
Several Championship sides are said to be interested in the 22-year old, with Queens Park Rangers one of the favourites as they look to replace Charlie Austin, who recently joined Southampton.
Gaston Ramirez
Southampton are apparently prepared to sell Gaston Ramirez after several disappointing seasons at St. Mary’s, with Championship leaders Middleborough reportedly interested.
Despite Saints manager Ronald Koeman stating at the start of the season that the playmaker would be a part of his plans, the Uruguayan has seen no follow up of such claims.
He is yet to start a Premier League game this term and has only made three substitute appearances.
Ramirez was enduring an uninspiring loan at Hull City last term, making 11 starts and scoring once.
The attacking midfielder is also capable of playing on either wing and would be a valuable addition to any Championship outfit’s squad.
Championship sides looking to improve their attack would look to Ramirez’s debut season in England when he netted 5 goals and produced 3 assists in 20 starts.
Frazier Campbell
Former Manchester United striker Frazier Campbell is another player who has been touted with a move to the Championship, with the 28-year old being linked with a return to former club Hull City.
A move to Hull would also reunite the Englishman with former boss Steve Bruce who signed him when he was Sunderland manager.
Campbell helped the Tigers to win promotion to the Premier League 8 year ago, but has since played for Manchester United and Tottenham, amongst others.
However, they may face competition from rivals Ipswich Town, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Campbell has been out of favour at current side Crystal Palace and has only netted 4 goals for the club since he moved from Cardiff City back in 2014.
