Yet another season is drawing towards a conclusion and yet again questions have been raised about the future of Arsene Wenger.
As it stands, it looks like a trophyless season for the Gunners after recent exits from the FA Cup and Champions League, and they are currently well off the pace in the league.
Gunners’ fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the policy that Wenger has put in place over recent seasons, where he has been reluctant to sign players and spend the money needed to overhaul their squad to get them challenging.
It looks like being a 12th season without a Premier League title which simply won’t do for the fans, who demand the highest standard at all times.
But should Wenger finally go this season, could his old foe Jose Mourinho really replace him in the Emirates dugout? Here we look at FOUR reasons why Mourinho and Arsenal could prove to be a good fit……

Wins trophies
The one thing that Arsenal would want after Wenger is somebody that could guide them to major honours on a consistent basis.
With that, it is difficult to look any further than Mourinho.
He may, at times, rub people up the wrong way but there is no doubting his record as a manager despite his mid-season sacking at Chelsea.
He has won 22 major trophies as a manager including league titles in four different countries as well as winning the Champions League with two different clubs.
In his 16 years as a top-flight manager he has won his domestic league title on eight occasions, and between 2003 and 2012 he won at least one trophy every calendar year.
Spends big
The major grumble Gunners fans have with Wenger of late is the Frenchman’s apparent reluctance to spend big in the transfer window to sign top quality players.
The squad looks in need of an overhaul to get them challenging the top sides on a consistent basis and Mourinho would certainly be up for that challenge.
During his second-spell at Chelsea which lasted two-and-a-half years he spent around £280 million on new players to turn the club into a force again, having fallen behind slightly in the seasons before.
Something similar is going to be needed at Arsenal sometime soon.
Premier League experience
Perhaps more importantly than anything, Wenger’s replacement would need Premier League experience.
It has been proven in the past that managers that do not know the English game have struggled with the intensity of the league, but that is one thing certainly in Mourinho’s favour.
He has spent six and a half years managing in the league, winning the title on three occasions.
He has won eight trophies in England with Chelsea and will know most of the league like the back of his hand having managed in it until only six months ago.
Relationship with big players
As said previously, Mourinho has a bit of a reputation for rubbing people up the wrong way when things aren’t going too well.
However, when things are going well it is a different story.
During his first spell at Chelsea many of their top players including John Terry, Frank Lampard, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba spoke of the admiration and high regard in which they hold Mourinho.
He also has a good relationship with the mercurial Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is, of course, has said he will leave PSG this summer and could be on for a move to the Premier League, and what the Gunners fans would give to see a player such as Ibrahimovic gracing the Emirates next season.
