Now is the time for Sunderland to finally start kicking on with things this season as they finally chalked up a victory in the Premier League against Bournemouth last weekend.

Indeed, it was the first three points secured by the club under David Moyes’ stewardship and now the onus is on them to make sure they build on it and get themselves out of the bottom three.

Our resident Black Cats fans were overjoyed with the victory and genuinely feel that if they can match the hard graft they put in against the south coast club for the rest of the season they’ll be safe – easier said than done, though.

There can be no doubt that in January Moyes will work on his squad to improve their fortunes for the second half of the season with plenty of incomings surely a given.

Danny Ward

Eight goals for a struggling Rotherham side in the Championship suggests that Ward could be even better in a better side.

Whilst Sunderland are struggling in the Premier League, they are a far superior side to the Millers and would definitely provide Ward with better service than he is receiving.

It could be an inspired signing him Moyes went for him.

Chris Wood

Wood also has eight goals this season, but for Leeds United, as they look to finally return to the top flight under current boss Garry Monk.

Currently they lie just outside the play-off places, though, so nothing is guaranteed and Wood may find a move to Sunderland to try and crack the Premier League again after being at Leicester City, too good to turn down.

Anthony Modeste

Modeste is flying in the Bundesliga this season and could be the subject of many interested parties in January if he continues in this manner.

It’s a long way from the torrid time he spent at Blackburn Rovers a few years ago in the top flight and may feel he has unfinished business with football in this country.

If he does and Moyes can persuade him to join they’ll be sitting pretty.

Martin Braithwaite

Whilst the attention in Ligue 1 is on the likes of Edinson Cavani and Alexandre Lacazette in the goal scoring stakes Braithwaite continues to go under the radar.

He deserves more credit, though, for the work he has done up top for Toulouse that regularly sees him near the top of the highest scorers list and sees them punch above their weight in the French division.
