Whilst expectations were at an all time low for the Gunners in the Tavern – the season has, thus far, exceeded expectations.
A dominant victory over Chelsea has proven that Arsenal are back to their best, and that Arsene Wenger wants to ensure that what could be his last season in charge of the club is a successful one.
As with any season however, there have been a number of concerns and theories that Arsenal fans will share in unison. Certain thoughts and ideas that pertain to how their club is doing.
This season has been no different, and whether it be decisions from Arsene Wenger or thoughts towards the future – every Arsenal fan has had them.
With that said, here are FOUR thoughts every Arsenal fan has 100% had this season…
Sanchez as a striker
With Olivier Giroud not in the team currently, every Arsenal fan has without doubt had the same reaction to Alexis Sanchez’ role as a striker.
At the beginning of the season, it was a case of ‘oh – this again?’ – after the Chilean failed to impress in the role last season – but as time has gone on, the idea concerning Sanchez as a number 9 has steadily changed.
Now, fast forward several weeks – and most of the Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are delighted when they see Alexis Sanchez leading the line.
The prolific front man has impressed this year, putting in stunning displays week after week – not least against Chelsea; and his form has directly correlated with Arsenal’s rise in fortunes.
For the Arsenal fans in the Tavern, Sanchez playing as a striker is certainly a good idea.
Wenger to stay?
It has been documented that Arsene Wenger’s contract runs out at the end of the season – and every Arsenal fan has considered whether they want him to stay or not.
Their perspective changes on a near weekly basis. When Arsenal play well – he is the best in the world; but when they lose – he quickly becomes the worst.
Whether he will renew his contract with this club remains to be seen, but all Arsenal fans have considered it – and every Arsenal fan has their own, individual thoughts on the matter.
Could it happen?
As with every year, Arsenal fans have no doubt considered whether their club will be able to build a title challenge this season.
Victories against Chelsea and Burnley have made the Arsenal fans in the Tavern think ‘what if?’ – and they have left many of them feeling that they can win the title this season.
With Arsenal playing so well, it could definitely happen!
No, probably not
However, as with every Arsenal year – those dreams are often crushed by the harsh realities of life in the Premier League.
Opening day defeat at Liverpool has left the Gunners fearing that they cannot go with the boy boys in the Premier League – and that it will cost them in the long term.
Regardless of form, Arsenal fans can never decide if they can mount a credible title challenge – and this year is no different.
With every defeat comes negativity; but with every win comes a chance of Premier League glory.
Could it happen? Probably not…
