Bournemouth have been simply incredible this season considering the expectations everybody had, and the Cherries fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been loving the journey!
Currently sitting in 14th, Bournemouth have been able to defy the odds and safely secure another season in the Premier League without ever really being in danger of getting relegated.
Considering the team only came up last year and was seen as relegation candidates, they have done brilliantly to be consistent this season.
However, while this has been a successful season for Eddie Howe’s men, there have been some players that have still under-preformed this season.
Also with Bournemouth wanting to continue to grow as a club, they may need to get rid of a few players in order to replace them with better, more capable Premier league players.
Today we look at FIVE players that Eddie Howe needs to axe for next season if he wants to make sure that this season wasn’t a fluke….

Adam Federici
The former Reading keeper has been Bournemouth’s 2nd choice keeper this season but it might be wise to get rid of him in order to bring in a better quality keeper to replace him.
Boruc would be a great 2nd choice keeper and if Bournemouth want to sign a better quality player in that position then the Australian should leave Bournemouth.
During Boruc’s absence Federici stepped into the first team and made 5 Premier League appearances.
Bournemouth failed to win any of the games that Federici was apart of and in total he conceded 11 goals during those 5 games.
So maybe it’s time to let Federici go after only one season with the club.
Juan Iturbe
The on-loan Roma player has not delivered this season for Bournemouth at all.
Since his January move to the Cherries, Iturbe has played 4 games and has failed to play a full 90 minutes since coming to England.
The problem is that even when Iturbe has been on the pitch he hasn’t been good enough to make his move permanent.
Luckily, Bournemouth went for a loan move first instead.
However Juan Iturbe is still only 22 and he could prove to be a key player if he does stay at Bournemouth. ]
But right now it seems that Iturbe needs to return back to Roma and not stay at Bournemouth next season.
Sylvain Distin
The Frenchman is now 38, and he performs like a player who is ageing and certainly past his prime.
While having an experienced centre-back this season was beneficial, for Bournemouth to further develop it might be time to let Distin go.
The former Everton man has made 14 starts for Bournemouth this season and has looked slow and out of touch with the modern game.
It may be time to replace Distin and possibly bring in a younger replacement who will show the desire to try and push into the first team.
Distin has spent a long time in the Premier League and maybe it’s time that he lets younger talents take his spot as the substitute defender.
Glenn Murray
Murray is another player who is perhaps past his prime and although he hasn’t been terrible, he might need to go to let somebody else take his spot.
Murray only started 6 times for Bournemouth in the league but was mostly used as a substitute where he came on 13 times this season. As a striker your main objective is to get goals . Murray unfortunately only has 5 goals to his name in all competitions.
With the striker turning 33 next season, Eddie Howe may need to let the striker go to free up some money.
This will allow him to bring in a younger striker who will most likely perform better than the Englishman.
Marc Pugh
Pugh has not been bad for Bournemouth this season.
However compared to his stand out season in the Championship. he hasn’t been able to carry on that form.
The midfielder has been with the Cherries for 6 seasons now, and has done remarkably well to be a key player in their journey from League One to the Premier League.
However there has to be a time when a player should move on to benefit the growth of the club.
Pugh has started 13 games this season for Bournemouth and was a substitute for 11 other games in the Premier League.
His season has been average and apart from a couple stand out matches he has only managed 2 goals and 2 assists in the league.
With the chance that Eddie Howe could make some money off Pugh he should be able to bring in a player who can guarantee consistent performances next season.
