5 best Celtic goals of the 2014/15 season so far

Celtic made it four consecutive SPL titles this weekend, and the first under manager Ronny Deila.

Their success was confirmed on Saturday, having beaten Dundee comfortably the night before, as second placed Aberdeen went down to a defeat against Dundee United.

Celtic go into every SPL season as firm favourites for the title, but with a new manager at the helm this season was always going to be a bit more testing.

But after a tentative start, the Glasgow giants have been by far and away the most consistent side in the country, and are thoroughly deserving champions once more.

Here we take a look back at five of the best goals in what has been a memorable season.

 Nir Bitton v Dundee

Celtic v Kilmarnock - Scottish Premiership
In the win that would eventually secure another SPL title, midfielder Nir Britton produced a stunning strike that left Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain completely helpless.

Almost 30 yards from goal, Britton produced a stunning swerving strike, and a late contender for goal of the season.

Kris Commons v Rangers

Celtic v Rangers - Scottish League Cup Semi Final

Glasgow derbies have become much less frequent in recent years, so it is always a special occasion when Celtic and Rangers are drawn in the Scottish Cup.

That was the case in February, as the Hoops recorded a memorable victory against their bitter rivals – with Kris Commons scoring the second in a 2-0 win with a superb 20 yard strike that flew into the top corner.

John Guidetti v Inter Milan

Celtic v Inter Milan - UEFA Europa League Second Round First Leg

Deila would ultimately see his side suffer Europa League heartache at the hands of Inter Milan, but not before a thrilling first leg at Celtic Park, where his team showed superb character to come back from 2-0 down and secure a 3-3 draw.

The equalising goal was a thing of beauty as well, as substitute John Guidetti controlled Liam Henderson’s chipped pass superbly on his chest before volleying into the top corner, to send Celtic Park wild.

Virgil van Dijk v Dundee United

Dundee v Celtic - Scottish PremiershipCeltic know they face a tough task in holding onto their Dutch star, who has been by far the best defender in Scotland over the past couple of seasons.

He has proved an asset going forward as well, and produced this superb free kick against Dundee United last month, as Deila’s side continued their unstoppable march towards a fourth consecutive title.

Not a bad effort for a centre back!

Stefan Johansen v St Johnstone

St Johnstone v Celtic - Scottish PremiershipThe newly crowned Scottish player of the year gave another example of his qualities at St Johnstone in February, scoring a crucial and quality winning goal.

Johansen has been something of a magician for Celtic this season, and he produced a magic moment here, collecting the ball on his chest before teeing himself up perfectly to volley home the Hoops second goal of the afternoon – all without the ball touching the floor.
