Jurgen Klopp has been busy this month to appease the concerned supporters in the Transfer Tavern, bringing in Marko Grujic and Steven Caulker whilst securing the long-term future of Simon Mignolet.
Despite his activeness in the market so far, the punters at the bar believe Liverpool are still short of being a side capable of landing Champions League football and competing at the highest level, so they’re keen to see the club make some big recruits.
That could prove difficult to pull of but Klopp showed previously at Borussia Dortmund that he had a good eye for recruits, developing Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Marco Reus into global superstars.
Liverpool fans will now hope he does similar at Anfield and our punter at the bar has identified five ideal signings for Klopp to pursue, as he believes these players have the ability to star and be crafted in global giants in the coming years.

Ilkay Gundogan
A loyal figure of Jurgen Klopp’s during his time at Borussia Dortmund, German international Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with a move to Liverpool ever since his former boss took the helms at Anfield last year.
Gundogan could certainly be the figure to solidify Liverpool’s midfield, bridging the gap between defence and attack whilst getting the best out of those around him. Whilst he won’t be the biggest name Liverpool will be linked to, or the most expensive, signing Gundogan could fix a lot of problems for the Reds.
Granit Xhaka
Another midfield star Liverpool should definitely look to land is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka, who has been linked with a number of top sides but has made it clear that should he move, he wants first-team football.
Liverpool, unlike other interested parties, could offer him exactly that and Xhaka may well be the player the Kop has been crying out for ever since Xabi Alonso left Merseyside almost a decade ago. At 23, he has years ahead of him and bags of potential- but he is already the type of quality that Liverpool need.
Alvaro Morata
Liverpool’s record of signing strikers is unbelievably poor, as the number of recruits that actually shine is considerably low and not a year goes by without a new striker being signed. It’s a problem that Jurgen Klopp must fix and Alvaro Morata may be the ideal solution.
Having proved himself at Real Madrid as a youngster, though struggling to make the cut, Morata moved to Juventus and quickly showed he can lead the line on a weekly basis. Still very young, Morata can provide the goals at Anfield for years to come and can be the star the Reds are crying out for.
His price-tag is a major issue though, as is the fact he wants Champions League football.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegan
Marc-Andre Ter Stegan is one of the most highly-rated goalkeepers on the planet, so many have still not got used to seeing him occupy the bench at Barcelona- playing second fiddle to Claudio Bravo, despite winning the Champions League last term.
Understandably that hasn’t gone down well with the German and Liverpool could offer him an escape route, which would suit the young stopper, whilst the Reds would finally get the world-class goalkeeper they’ve craved for years.
It may be a match made in heaven but luring Barcelona into a deal will be problematic.
Leroy Sane
The Schalke wonder-kid has attracted top-sides across European football and teenager Leroy Sane will have his pick of clubs when he decides to leave his current German employers. Having already been capped at the international stage, Sane is making waves.
Whilst the likes of Barcelona want his signature, a mature decision would be to make that step gradually as there’s no way he’d get into the side ahead of their current strike force. Instead, it would be wise to continue his development at Liverpool and enjoy first-team football.
Liverpool would be signing a player they hold no hopes of holding onto as the years progress but loyalty could be found. Even if it isn’t, Liverpool can expect a few years of tremendous performances and a hefty profit.
