Major international tournaments only come around every two years but, in terms of club level, they are always the best opportunity for English talent to showcase their ability and sometimes see them secure bigger moves elsewhere.
This summer promises to be no different and there is, once again, a feeling that England have a really good group of young players that could catch the eye in France this summer and may potentially see them go further than they have in a major tournament for many a year.
Of course, there is always much promise beforehand so that bit remains to be seen. But in terms of moves on the cards afterwards, there are many England internationals that could find themselves plying their trade elsewhere from August.
From top-quality youngsters to names we’ve become accustomed to in the England set-up in recent years, there’s plenty on the market this summer and many of those will be angling for a move.

Wayne Rooney
Despite being in his 12th year at Old Trafford and closing in on the club’s goalscoring record, Rooney again finds himself linked with a move away from Manchester United. After being linked with moves to rivals Manchester City and Chelsea in recent years, the interest this time comes from a rather surprising location, China!
Although, the profile of the Chinese league is building after several high-profile transfers there in the last few months, it would be a strange one for the England and Manchester United captain to swap the Premier League for China when he still has plenty to offer, but occasionally money can talk and the Chinese appear to have plenty of it at the minute!
Jamie Vardy
Although, he recently signed a new contract with Leicester and hasn’t been subject of any firm interest from anywhere, the Premier League’s leading English scorer could be a player very much in demand at the end of the season.
Vardy, along with his club, have been a breath of fresh air this season and after breaking the league record for consecutive games scored in earlier this campaign, he has shown that he has what it takes to succeed at this level and if he could add the Premier League title to his crown at the end of the campaign, he will surely be of interest to the top clubs who need to bear in mind their quota of English players.
Jack Butland
Having now settled as a Premier League regular, Stoke keeper Jack Butland could be another young English talent in demand. He is very much number two to Joe Hart for his country but if he can maintain his current league form at, perhaps, a bigger club then he will be firmly knocking on the door.
Having worked his way through the leagues with various loan spells, Butland has picked up plenty of experience along the way and he has proved himself to be an accomplished keeper at the top level, so there could very well be plenty of interest following the Euros this summer.
John Stones
Will John Stones again be the subject of another summer transfer saga? Last summer’s will he, won’t he transfer regarding a potential move to Chelsea was dragged out far too long for Everton’s liking.
It shows Stones’ worth, though, that the champions at the time were willing to offer £40 million for him and it remains to be seen whether Everton will be able to fend off interest such as that again.
Chelsea will be looking to replace John Terry but Manchester United have also joined the list of suitors, so he could very well be on his way this summer.
Michael Carrick
Carrick is not, and indeed never has been, an England regular but he has always been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the past decade or so.
It is, perhaps, a travesty and partly down to a number of injuries that he has only featured 34 times for his country. With nearly 450 Premier League appearances under his belt, and five titles, his experience would be massive for any club.
He has been linked with a move to Newcastle, who have strengthened their squad with a number of English players. Of course, that move will depend on the Magpies’ league status at the end of the season but if they do avoid the drop then he could very well swap Old Trafford for St. James’ Park.
