The fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been experiencing mixed emotions for the last couple of days, whilst the final of Euro 2016, on Sunday, can’t come quick enough it also signals the end of a superb month of football. To help ease the blow, the bar staff have been asking punters which Euro wonderkids they would like to see at their clubs.

Players like Rooney and Ronaldo were once described as ‘wonderkids’ and also made their tournament debuts at the European Championships.

The Euros along with the World Cup, are the stage at which young players can make their mark internationally, whilst also increasing their chance of securing a move to one of Europe’s top clubs. A team who need to make more changes than any before the upcoming season gets under way, are Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.

A disappointing season last year will certainly be one to forget for the London club and if they’re going to make their mark next season, they may want to look out for some of the ‘wonderkids’ that have featured for their countries at this summers European Championships.

So Chelsea fans, you can come out of hiding and return to the Tavern to check out these 5 Euro 2016 wonderkids that Conte should bring to Chelsea.

Dele Alli

In his debut season in the Tottenahm first team, the 20-year-old managed 10 goals and 9 assists earning him a call up to the England squad and subsequently being taken to France for Euro 2016.

Although the chances of Spurs letting one of their key players go to one of their biggest local rivals are slim, it’s not exactly unheard of, Sol Campbell made the move from Spurs to Arsenal years ago and William Gallas has played for all three of the London clubs!

The former MK Dons man had the potential of being the wonderkid of Euro 2016, unfortunately after a less than stellar tournament with the rest of his England team mates, the dynamic midfielder returns home with his future still uncertain.

Arsenal have been rumoured to have expressed interest and while it may only be interest at this time, if Tottenham don’t completely rule out a move away from White Hart Lane then Chelsea certainly have the money to bring one of England’s hottest young prospects to Stamford Bridge.

Potentially the new Luke Modric? This Croation wonderkid is currently being looked at by Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool but he would fit in quite nicely at Stamford Bridge, too.

Not necessarily to be thrust straight into the first team, he’s definitely one for the future, and if Conte can snap him up now, in 2 or 3 years time, he could have a world class player on his hands.

Making 19 starts and scoring 4 goals in the league for Dinamo Zagreb and even making a handful of Champions League appearances, there are big things in this young Croatian’s future and Blues fans, players and their manager alike are going to want to make sure those big things are happening in the blue of Chelsea.

Julian Weigl

Another central midfielder with a lot of potential and already a season with Borussia Dortmund under his belt, Julian Weigl isn’t just one for the future, he is one for right now.

It’s hard to believe that the season before his move to Dortmund, the 20-year-old was a part of the 1860 Munich side who only just escaped relegation on the final day of the season.

An already capable player, the only thing that will make it difficult for Conte is the fact that midfielder still has a few years left on his contract with the Bundesliga side and it’s very doubtful, given his first team status that Thomas Tuchel will want to let him go.

Leroy Sane

Sane is a wanted man, especially by Manchester City who are rumoured to be close to signing the German winger, however it’s not uncommon for clubs to swoop in at the last second and with the money Roman Abrhamovic is sure to give Conte to ensure a repeat of last season is not on the cards, it is possible that Chelsea could tempt Sane over to them.

The most positive aspect of this possible transfer for Chelsea, is that Schalke have already come out and said they don’t want to be involved in a summer transfer ‘saga’ and have given Leroy Sane the option to make his own decision on whether he wants to stay or go.

If he decides he won’t want to be playing his football for Schalke next season, there’s no reason Conte shouldn’t bring him over to Stamford Bridge.

Jason Denayer

Another Premier League player to make the list, Jason Denayer has been backed by Belgian captain, Vincent Kompany to be a bright star for the future.

The Man City centre back has some experience through loan spells at Celtic and Galatasary where he gained plenty of first team football. Due to Belgium’s problems with their centre backs going into the European Championships this summer, the 21-year-old earned his call up and even featured in their quarter-final defeat to Wales.

A player that has plenty of talent and plenty of room to grow, the Belgian international has always struggled to break in to the Manchester City first team and if Conte decides to bring his 3-5-2 formation to London, then he could fit in very nicely as a key first team player in London.
