5 Liverpool players who simply haven’t cut it this season

Quite often inside The Transfer Tavern we have a large number of Liverpool fan and they crowded in on Deadline Day earlier this week, only to leave disappointed at the lack of activity on Merseyside.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has slightly improved results and performances at Anfield, although just lately they have been very inconsistent in performance and results.

This has led to much speculation about the huge task facing the German, as he tries to revive Liverpool back into a force in English and European football.

Our Landlord spotted some hardened fans sitting out in the Tavern’s beer garden, they motioned for another round and were quickly served by the Tavern’s landlord, who wanted to know which players they thought had not cut it so far this season at Liverpool.

Here we have a list of FIVE Liverpool players who have not made the cut at Liverpool this season, they might also fear of hold on to a Liverpool shirt through the summer.

Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke

The £32.5m striker has just not lived up to expectation this season, though some portion of the blame can be handed out in the poor service he has received.

This is not the only failing, as he no longer chases lost causes doesn’t really compete in the air against defenders.

A return of just seven goals in 30 matches is just not good enough for  a Liverpool forward and right now he does not look like he could buy a goal.

Adam Lallana

Lallana

One of my favourite players here, Lallana has exceptional talent and when he moved to Liverpool I thought he would be an outstanding signing.

Unfortunately, this season has not worked out well. He is knocked off the ball far too easily and his end product has been almost non-existent.

There is still time for him to turn things around and working under Klopp will be good for him. I think with a pre-season under the German he will be much more influential next season.

Dejan Lovren

Lovren

You could probably put the whole back four as under performing, but whilst not making the cut Lovren has been at fault too many times this year.

The Croatian seem to be trying to react to situations rather than preventing them, which gets him into trouble far too often.

It is no secret there will be casualties in the current Liverpool squad during the summer and several defenders will more than likely be on the way out of Anfield.

Adam Bogdan

Liverpool had high hopes that Bogdan would be competing with Simon Mignolet for a first team place this season.

This, however, was misguided with many high profile howler’s this season, he is quite frankly not good enough to be considered a top class keeper.

One of the biggest mistakes came at the hands of League Two Exeter City, when they scored directly from a corner.

It almost put Liverpool out of The F.A Cup. Klopp has made it no secret that he wants to sign a world class keeper and Bogdan will be third choice at best.

Kolo Toure

Liverpool’s only fit centre half at the moment, Toure has been a huge under achiever since his arrival at Anfield.

He makes far too many mistakes, although he puts in maximum effort the defending has been comical at Liverpool this season.

For such a high profile player the standard of play has left a lot to be desired and it would not surprise anyone if  he left in the summer.
