Arsenal bounced back from their Champions League disappointment yesterday, with a routine 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
The result moves Arsenal back into third place in the Premier League, and well on course for Champions League qualification.
But Gunners fans have grown continuously impatient with the lack of progress under Arsene Wenger, with supporters craving a serious challenge for either the Premier League title or the Champions League.
It looks as though Arsenal have failed to deliver on either front for another season, and may well have to be content with the usual top four finish – whilst possibly retaining the FA Cup they won last May if they can get past Manchester United at Old Trafford in the quarter finals.
Failure to complete either of those objectives would see the season labelled as a major disappointment, whilst some fans continue to call for change on the managerial front.

Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal
A game that will be most remembered for the touchline spat between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, ended in a fairly routine 2-0 victory for Chelsea.
Losing to the Blues is difficult enough for Arsenal fans, but the fact this win all but ended their title challenge by October made it even more of a bitter pill to swallow.
Arsene Wenger also extended his winless run against Mourinho to 12 matches, whilst the Gunners failed to hit a shot on target until five minutes from time, in what was a hugely disappointing and predictable defeat.
Arsenal 1-2 Manchester United
Arsenal’s rivalry with Manchester United is one of the most fierce of the Premier League era, given the way in which it has so often been a game that has gone on to decide the destination of the title.
This match in November was perhaps a sign of how far both have fallen in recent years, with Chelsea and Manchester City the new top two in English football.
Arsenal were made to pay for a series of missed opportunities in the first half, with an own goal from Kieran Gibbs and a cool finish from Wayne Rooney condemning them to a 2-1 home defeat to a major rival for the top four.
Southampton 2-0 Arsenal
Arsenal fans felt the New Years Day hangovers more than most, following a dreadful performance and result on the south coast.
Southampton further underlined their top four credentials with a fairly comfortable win over Wenger’s man, although Wojciech Szczesny was at fault for both goals.
The misery was compounded when an Arsenal fan made his way onto the touchline to berate Wenger, before being escorted away by security and subsequently charged.
Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Losing a north London derby is not something Arsenal fans have had to experience too often in recent seasons, but this term has seen Tottenham take four points from a possible six from their fierce rivals.
After a 1-1 draw at the Emirates in September, Harry Kane inspired Spurs to a comeback victory over Wenger’s side – scoring the winner with just five minutes remaining.
The fact Arsenal had been 1-0 up at half time and the manner in which Tottenham were the dominant side for so much of the game was particularly tough for the fans to take.
Arsenal 1-3 Monaco
And so to last Wednesday, a night that was supposed to see the Gunners take a major step towards qualifying for the last eight of the Champions League for the first time in five years.
Monaco represented the best possible draw for Wenger’s side on paper, but a dreadful display at the Emirates means they will head into the second leg needing three away goals to have any chance of qualifying.
Olivier Giroud had a night to forget, missing four clear cut chances before being subbed. And even after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled a goal back in the 89th minute, the Gunners still contrived to concede another away goal on the counter attack with seconds to spare.
Oh, and ex-Tottenham man Dimitar Berbatov also scored to really rub salt in the wounds.
