5 players Newcastle could sign today on Deadline Day

Newcastle United fans are some of the most passionate fans that anyone can come across in the Transfer Tavern and they don’t demand titles and glory- but they hope of some late business.

Our Landlord at The Transfer Tavern was speaking to just such a group of fans, as they ordered their drinks from the bar.

The tavern always has news coming in from the clubs and they were quite eager to hear what the landlord had to tell them about the deals we expect Newcastle to complete today.

Steve McClaren has already completed two high profile signings so far this month but has been back by controversial Chairman Mike Ashley to bring in some of McLaren’s own targets, as they seek to move away from the relegation zone of The Premiere League.

Here are five deals we think Newcastle could make today- and some of them could be pretty huge!

Saido Berahino

Newcastle have upped the ante and blow the competition away by tabling a £21million offer for the young striker, as they attempt to land their number one target for this window.

Berahino is desperate for an end to his West Brom nightmare and with Tottenham’s interest cooling on the forward, the Toon look like they are in prime position to land the Forward from relegation rivals West Brom.

Lucas Orban

Newcastle

Valencia have offered versatile defender to Newcastle after snatching transfer target Guilherme Siqueira from under their nose.

Steve McClaren is searching for a new left back to add to his squad as he looks to add more quality and depth to his squad.

The Argentina international is now surplus to requirements as Valencia manager Gary Neville swooped in for Sigueira.

Seydou Doumbia

Doumbia

The Roma striker had been linked with a move to Premier League bottom side Aston villa, until he heard that Newcastle were interested in getting his signature- where he is now expected to put pen to paper today after a medical.

The 28-year-old striker will sign on loan for the rest of the season, Doumbia has been on loan to Russian side CSKA and scored eleven goals for them but a permanent deal fell through and he returned to Roma.

Bafetimbi Gomis

Gomis

Newcastle still have interest in the Swansea City striker and will monitor any activity that involves the Swans front man.

Swansea intend to block any moves by Newcastle for the player who are thought to have made a £7million offer for the 30-year-old, but it will depend now on the Berahino deal if the Toon boss tries another attempt at landing Gomis.

Ogenyi Onazi

Lazio midfielder has been lighting up Serie A this season with some dazzling performances for the Italian club.

Many clubs  from the Premier League, including Newcastle, have taken notice of the youngster’s displays and Lazio have  indicated they are willing to listen to offers for the young starlet.

Werder Bremen have tabled £6million offer but Lazio are waiting to see if the Premier League sides will top that offer.
