Micah Richards

Aston Villa centre-back Richards has emerged as a target for Big Sam as he seeks to solve his defensive problems and keep Sunderland in the top flight.

Richards joined Villa in the summer but has not been able to stop the appalling performances that have been common place at Villa Park.

Allardyce is keen on landing the 27-year-old from their relegation rivals, where the powerful centre-back has made 20 appearances this season for the Villains.

Andre Ayew

Black Cats boss Allardyce is very keen on the 26-year-old striker but the Swans are not keen to sell to relegation rivals, having already lost Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle earlier this month.

Ayew has scored eight times this season for Swansea and Big Sam seeks two things from the transfer dealings, goal scorers and defenders.

Any bid will have to be in access of £7million as Swansea have already one offer for that amount from another Premier League side.

Mathieu Debuchy

Debuchy

Sunderland have joined Aston villa in the race to land the left back from Arsenal, after Arsene Wengre said he was free to leave The  Gunners.

Debuchy now has at least two Premier league offers on the table but only for loan deals until the summer as both clubs are unwilling to commit to a long term deal with a player who would command a large salary.

Until they know which division they will be playing their football in next season.

Nedum Onuoha

Nedum Onuoha

It is no secret that Sunderland are after defenders and the QPR defender fits the bill for Big Sam.

The 6ft 1in player can play either centre back or right back and has made 31 appearances for the Championship side, but with the right offer he could be prised away from Loftus Road.

Onuoha is not unknown to the Black cats having previously been on-loan back in 2013 at The Stadium of Light, where he made 31 appearances for them and scored one goal.

Tom Lees

Tom Lees

A 25-year-old versatile defender who can play in either full back or as a central defender, Lees has been putting in some great performances for Sheffield Wednesday in The Championship.

2 goals in 23 games is also not a bad return and Allardyce can use his presence to increase the threat from set plays as all aspects of the game become critical in their bid for survival.
