5 players who could follow Man Utd’s Darmian to Chelsea this summer

Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian has been linked with a shock summer switch to Stamford Bridge, according to reports from The Sun.

Darmian is currently playing for Chelsea’s manager in waiting Antonio Conte in the Italy squad at Euro 2016, and it is understood the Italian boss is keen on bringing the 26-year-old to London with him after the tournament finishes.

The Red Devils defender can play both as a full-back and wing-back, so would be ideal to suited for life at Stamford Bridge under Conte next season who is set to experiment with playing both a back three and a back four.

However, while United are willing to sell Darmian – having already offered him to Juventus as part of a swap deal for Paul Pogba – it is unseen as to whether Jose Mourinho will be happy to do business with his former club having been sacked by the Blue’s just over 6 months ago.

If the move were to go ahead, Darmian would certainly be one of many to make the move to the Bridge this summer, and our local Chelsea fans have given us their wishlist of FIVE players they’d love to see in Blue next season…..

Breel Embolo

Embolo

The young Swiss international impressed when he came on in his country’s Euro 2016 opener against Albania, offering his side a different outlet and using his pace and excellent hold up play to good use.

Boasting an impressive scoring record for FC Basel at only 19 years of age, Embolo is one of Europe’s hottest talents – and would be a fantastic signing for Conte’s Chelsea.

Leonardo Bonucci

Bonucci

How Chelsea fans would love to see this man follow his old Juventus and current Italy boss Antonio Conte to Stamford Bridge next season.

Bonucci has experience in abundance and  is excels both technically and physically, making him an hugely well round centre half.

Dimitri Payet

West Ham have allegedly issued an ‘hands-off warning’ to Chelsea, as it is understood the Blues have stepped up their interest in securing the French playmaker’s services.

The Hammers’ key player last campaign, Payet – and his free kicks of course – were sensational, and the former Lille man opened Euro 2016 with a cracking last minute winner for his country.

Marquinhos

In the absence of Kurt Zouma, and with John Terry approaching retirement, Chelsea are definitely in need of defensive reinforcements.

Marquinhos has struggled for game time at PSG – with Laurent Blanc preferring David Luiz and Thiago Silva as his centre back partnership – so the the Brazilian youngster could search for pastures new this summer.

N’Golo Kante

Kante’s price tag is sure to sky rocket if he continues to play the way he has for France thus far.

In the pre-tournament friendly’s the former Caen man ate up the ground and gave freedom to his side’s more attacking minded players to go and do their thing, and he did the exact same in France’s opener against Romania.

The replacement for Claude Makelele Chelsea never found?

Who knows.
