5 players who could follow Xhaka and Bender to Arsenal this month

Arsenal fans weren’t anticipating too much more transfer business this month but with links surfacing that state both Granit Xhaka and Lars Bender may swap the Bundesliga for North London, excitement levels have risen.

The Gunners currently lead the way in the Premier League title race with 16 games to go but it’s extremely close at the top, with many concerned that only signed Mohamed Elneny this month could concede the title to one of their rivals.

Therefore, our punters have been scouring through the papers to find links of players that could be on their way to the Emirates Stadium in the next 10 days- and they’ve finalised a shortlist of five names they believe could become Gunners imminently.

With Arsene Wenger always tight-lipped on his transfer plans, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether Arsenal will land anybody in the final ten days of the window but he always has his eyes open and could make some surprises.

Adrien Rabiot

Rabiot

The young French midfielder has been linked with Arsenal since the summer of 2014, as the Paris Saint-Germain ace struggles to secure regular first-team football in the French capital. As his frustrations grown, so does the likelihood of a transfer.

Arsenal will face a lot of competition for Rabiot’s signature but the crucial factor could be Champions League football, though they may not be able to offer first-team assurances. In the end, it’s all down to negotiations and Arsene Wenger is a master of those.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang

The dream signing for Arsenal is still on, with Borussia Dortmund willing to sell for the right price. Whether Arsenal will match that figure this month remains to be seen but, if they do, the Premier League title is all but theirs.

Aubameyang would add a striker to Arsenal’s squad that the Gunners have lacked since the days Robin Van Persie was in his prime. Whilst Olivier Giroud has been extremely valuable, we’ve always got the feeling he’d work better with a partner and Aubameyang could be that man.

Ben Chilwell

Chilwell

The Leicester City youngster is earning rave reviews with his performances this season and Arsenal have been linked with the young full-back. Just 19-years-old, and capable of playing on either side of the defence, the teenager would be a massive prospect for the future.

Whilst Nacho Monreal has made the left-back slot his own, and Hector Bellerin has done the same on the other side, the long-term position is still up for grabs as Kieran Gibbs has been rather shaky in that role recently.

On top of this, by having Chilwell and Bellerin, Arsenal’s flanks would be secured for the next decade.

Goncalo Guedes

Guedes

Arsene Wenger always has his eyes cast for young talent and the latest star to catch his eye is Benfica’s Goncalo Guedes, a 19-year-old who’s earned comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo. Arsenal scout Luis Boa Morte was spotted watching the youngster this week, which has intensified links.

Arsenal have a wealth of depth in the wide areas of midfield but there’s always room for a talented youngster. With the right guidance, Guedes can become a superstar and he could make-up for the blow of failing to land Ronaldo a decade ago.

Andriy Yarmolenko

Yarmolenko

A surprise target has reportedly emerged this week, with media on the continent stating Arsenal and ready to swoop for Andriy Yarmolenko. At £25m, it’s a signing that’s difficult to see Arsenal completing but it’s worth keeping tabs on.

The Gunners have seemingly ended their interest in Celta Vigo’s Nolito and, should Wenger decide another wide-option is needed, Yarmolenko could fit the bill. He’s not a very Arsenal-like signing though, so take this with a pinch of salt.
