We always have fans congregating in the Transfer Tavern and our Landlord has noted that there is a large crowd of Premier league fans inside and decided to to ask the various fans their thoughts on this January’s Transfer window.

January always throws up lots of rumours of teams chasing one player and players trying to get themselves out of a club, with a wealth of transfers expected in the final week of the mid-season window.

Fans are always excited at this time of year and many are still hopeful of securing a big-name that can help them achieve their relevant goals this season, as we rapidly approach the business end of the campaign.

The Landlord in the Tavern decided to find out which Premier League midfielders our fans think will be on the move during the the final week of the January window and here’s the five names they gave us!

Newcastle are still hoping to land Tottenham’s winger, although there are some sticking points. Spurs wanted to loan out Townsend but Newcastle want to buy him.

That led to talks breaking down, only to be renewed again with Newcastle offering around £10milllion although Spurs are holding out for £14million- which, incidentally, is a reported price that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have to pay for Saido Berahino.

This deal could rumble on until the last seconds of deadline day.

Charlie Adam

Adam

The Stoke City midfielder is out of favour and has been linked with a number of Championship clubs, although he would prefer staying in the Premier League.

Brighton and Wolves have been linked with Adams, who is prepared to go out on loan to get some first team action and, as of yet, there are no offers from a team in the top flight.

Adams still has a lot to offer, especially at Championship level, and he could be a huge arrival for one club this week.

Moussa Sissoko

Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko could be jetting off to Italy, with Napoli after the 26-year-old Frenchman, although one bid has been rejected. However, the Serie A title chasers are expected to make a fresh approach.

There are also other teams waiting in the wings to see what happens and could swoop in to try and take Sissoko out of St James Park.

Liverpool have been mentioned as a possible Premier League destination, with Spurs also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Nemanja Matic

Matic

After a disappointing season so far, Matic is unconvinced he is wanted by Chelsea and has been linked with a summer move from Stamford Bridge but recent interest from numerous European clubs could bring an end to his Chelsea career this week.

Matic is one of several Chelsea stars said to be unhappy and they face a tough battle to convince them all to stay, especially if the club fail to get into Europe; a challenge that Chelsea look increasingly unlikely to be successful in.

Chelsea may be prepared to let him go if they land their January transfer targets, so keep your eyes peeled on this.

John Obi Mikel

Another Chelsea midfielder that looks stay to be leaving Stamford Bridge this month is John Obi Mikel, providing the unnamed Chinese club meet Chelsea figures.

Mikel was almost a forgotten man at the Bridge until recently finding his way back thanks to interim boss Guus Hiddink, though an exit still seems likely in the coming days.

The offer was made last week for Mikel and Chelsea countered with their own valuation of the player, and the Chinese club are expected to meet the Blues valuation- which will see Mikel out of London.
