We’ve had a large amount of Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern this week, most of whom are not happy with the current football on show at The Theatre of Dreams.
Our landlord was talking to a few members of the Old Trafford faithful about what they would like to happen at Manchester United, to fix the problems they perceive at the club.
The first suggestion was that Louis van Gaal needs to go, as he is too negative and plays dull unattractive football and is killing the atmosphere.
With recent losses at home, rumours are circling that the Dutchman’s time is seemingly almost up at United – and our landlord asked who should be put in charge of the red side of Manchester, and the resounding vote was for either Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho.
With Pep looking odds on to be appointed at rivals Manchester City it leaves Manchester United potentially with Jose Mourinho, who as some Red Devil fans feel, is perfect for the role.
Here are FIVE reasons why our resident Manchester United fans feel Mourinho is perfect for the Old Trafford hot seat……

Winning Football

One of the main problems at United is they are not winning and Jose knows how to win – it may not always be the most attractive football, but when your lifting the Premier League trophy, how you got there is a little less Important.
That’s not to say that a Mourinho side doesn’t play some really attractive football at times.
Last season when Chelsea won the title they played wonderful flowing football, but when it was necessary they did whatever it took to get the result, something Man United need.
Point to prove

Jose has a point to prove on several counts – the first being the fact he was sacked at Chelsea, he will be hungry and wanting to prove to all his doubters that he is still the Special One.
Mourinho would love more than anything to put one over on Chelsea.
The second point he wants to prove is that he can build a club for sustained success, an accusation that he can only be somewhere for a short period is following him round like a cloud, and he may see Old Trafford as the place to build a legacy.
Man management

Jose is well know for getting the maximum out of his players and they go through walls for him, at times his abrasive nature can have the opposite effect like what happened at Chelsea, where he evidently lost the dressing room.
He would of learnt a lot from the experience at the wrong end of the table and how he handle the players – he won’t make those same errors (if they were errors) again.
Jose can definitely get a tune out of the players, with the likes of Kurt Zouma flourishing under his stewardship at Chelsea.
Knows the Premier League

Mourinho knows the Premier League inside out, more importantly he knows what it takes to turn a team into title contenders.
When the Portuguese manager joined Chelsea for the first time, he rejuvenated the side significantly, and ultimately turned them into Premier League winners.
Jose would not waste valuable funds and time bringing in the wrong type of player into the club, like van Gaal did with Di Maria, Jose will already know what he needs at Old Trafford.
Has the power to attract the top players

For whatever reason, Manchester United have missed out on some of their transfer targets, it happened under David Moyes and it has followed on to a lesser degree with Louis van Gaal.
However, under Mourinho, players know his name and reputation and they want to play for him, not only because of his charismatic nature but he wins trophies and that is what everyone wants from players.
Silverware is what counts and Jose knows how to win them.
Have your say…..What do you think? Is the Special One the man for Manchester United? Is there a reason why Mourinho shouldn’t be the boss at Old Trafford? Drop into the Tavern and have a drink and leave your comments below!
