5 strikers that will help Chelsea win the Premier League next season

Chelsea fans are looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as one of our punters claims that they think the Blues need to go shopping this summer.

Given Jose Mourinho and his men have been crowned Premier League champions, you could forgive them for being content to rest on their laurels, but with questions surrounding the fitness of Diego Costa and his ability to feature for 38 games a season, not to mention Loic Remy’s failure to impress and Didier Drogba’s age, Mourinho is on the hunt for a forward again.

Chelsea being Chelsea will want one of the best players out there and with money not really being an issue for the Blues, we have taken a look at five of the best forwards around Europe that Chelsea could well buy.

Gonzalo Higuain

Jose Mourinho knows the forward well from his time at Real Madrid and was a huge fan of the player he called a dog in comparison to Karim Benzema’s cat.

Pipita has been brilliant for Napoli this season and wants a move back to a bigger club – and Chelsea would certainly qualify as one of those.

He is different to anything they currently have and should the Blues ship out Loic Remy, he would be the ideal man to come in and be another option next to Costa, Bamford and Drogba.

Mauro Icardi

Icardi is one of the most coveted forwards in Europe at the minute, and Jose Mourinho would love to snatch him away from former club Inter Milan.
Given contract talks between Icardi and Inter seem to be stalling, we think the Blues will be on high alert and ready to swoop should the opportunity present itself.
Someone who is young, hungry and has bags of talent. An ideal buy for Mourinho’s vision of where he wants to take the Blues.

Patrick Bamford

Patrick Bamford
How convenient for Chelsea. They already own the forward and could well save themselves tens of millions they would otherwise spend on a forward if they just handed Bamford a chance.
The Championship player of the year has made a real splash this season for Boro and we think that Jose Mourinho seems willing to give the Chelsea kids a chance.
A back up forward should Diego Costa become injured seems to be the ideal role for Bamford while he adjusts to life at Chelsea.

Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke
Benteke is on fire and is one of the in form forwards in the Premier League – but simply saying he is just in form is a disservice to the forward.
If he managed to get a move to a top club like Chelsea or Manchester United, Benteke would be a 20 goal a season forward at the very least.
Chelsea need to strike now while the iron is hot and make sure that the Belgian does not fall into the hands of their rivals.

Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata
Jose Mourinho loved the young forward during his time at Real Madrid and you can bet he would never have allowed him to leave for Juventus.
Now it seems that Morata is attracting the attentions of all the big clubs around Europe and after his performance this season, that is little wonder.
Real Madrid have first refusal on the player and are thought to be considering exercising that option, but we think that money talks, and Chelsea will be waiting in the wings should an opportunity arise.
