It’s been a great season for Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the running to win their first league title in over half a century, and the squad is undoubtably talented, whilst looking very, very strong for the future.
Nevertheless, every football club has it’s fair share of expendable names and Tottenham is now different. Choosing who stays and who goes is not an easy call to make but it’s one Mauricio Pochettino must get dug into this summer.
With new recruits needed to make the side competitive in the Champions League next season, some members of the squad could become surplus to requirements despite their levels of involvement this season.
Taking that into consideration, we’ve identified five players we think Tottenham should move on this summer and we want your views on the matter- so let us know in the comments below!

Michel Vorm
Let’s face it, the former Swansea City stopper is far too good to be a back-up goalkeeper and, at 32, Spurs could do with having a younger goalkeeper to learn his trade behind the excellent Hugo Lloris. As such, a move for Vorm would be a good call.
He has played this season, and done a good job, but it’s probably best for all parties if he moved on. We’d love to see him remain in the Premier League though!
Nacer Chadli
The 26-year-old Belgian was one of many questionable recruits signed with the world-record fee Spurs received for Gareth Bale and, despite some promising moments, the 26-year-old has struggled to prove his lasting worth.
With changes afoot this summer, replacing Chadli would certainly be a good call as he’s not quite first-team starting material and any new signings would see Chadli pushed further down the pecking order.
Simply put, there’s better options out there.
Ryan Mason
With Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier all shining, and the possibility to new recruits coming into White Hart Lane this summer, there’s big question marks as to where that leaves Ryan Mason. Now 24, the local lad has gone past the phase of being a promising youngster.
Mason needs regular football and starting opportunities, which he’s unlikely to get in abundance at Tottenham. There’s far too much competition ahead of him and, in truth, he’s not as good as the other central midfielders Tottenham have amidst their ranks.
Kieran Trippier
With Kyle Walker shining at right-back, last season’s signing Kieran Trippier has found options at White Hart Lane extremely limited. Overall, he’s made just six appearances and hasn’t done enough to prove himself as a capable, regular starter.
As such, a decision to part ways with the 25-year-old wouldn’t be all that surprising and it may keep harmony in the squad. One grumpy player could have a drastic effect on how things go, so Spurs need to ensure they maintain squad morale.
Tom Carroll
Predominantly used off the bench this season, with 14 of his 18 appearances seeing him brought on as a substitute, Carroll is another player who’s opportunities may decline severely based on what signings come in this summer.
At 23, he’s another player who needs more regular football and a move away would be beneficial. He still has plenty to offer though, so it might be appropriate to send him on-loan to another Premier League side next season.
