£7M Is Admittedly Shrapnel, But Is He Actually Chelsea Quality?

Gary Cahill’s prospective move to Stamford Bridge is reportedly drawing ever closer after Bolton confirmed that they have opened talks with Chelsea and it’s expected that a £7m deal will be announced in January.

Is he good enough for Chelsea?

Cahill is an England international, has put in some decent displays alongside John Terry, is a good age at 26 and is cheap-ish for an English player, but I’m not sure he’s of good enough quality to displace either Terry or David Luiz, even though the latter isn’t anywhere near the finished article yet himself and is prone to the odd hairy moment.

Andre Villas-Boas has already said that there’s no way Alex will make his way back into the first team at Chelsea and I reckon that Cahill is an average talent next to the Brazilian defender.
