If you asked the question, ‘who does the public relations at Stamford Bridge?’ The answer you’d probably something is something along the lines of, ‘some bloke who went out for a pint one lunchtime a few years ago who never came back. Not sure of his name, might have been a Bob or a Tony.’

“I had just finished training and saw the captions on the TV screens in the treatment rooms about what was said in the FA commission ruling about me.

“I was really upset and tweeted my feelings in the heat of the moment. I apologise unreservedly for my comment about the FA.”

An FA spokesman said his organisation was aware of the Ashely Cole Tweet but declined to make any comment upon it.

Football is all about what happens on the pitch, but yet again the boys in blue do themselves no favours letting stuff like this into the public domain. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. This time, without the aid of an air-gun.
