The Transfer Tavern has been nothing short of rocked by claims that Chelsea are looking to prize Alexis Sanchez away from Arsenal this summer.
No, our landlord hasn’t been helping himself to a few too many pints of fine Transfer Tavern ale – The Guardian are claiming the Chile international is the Blues’ main transfer target for the summer window.
Of course, Sanchez’s future at the Emirates Stadium has been the subject of much debate in recent months, not only because his contract expires at the end of next season but also due to his seemingly growing frustrations in north London.
And it’s now being reported that Chelsea are hoping to capitalise on the situation this summer, although they face an uphill battle in convincing Arsenal to sell to a divisional rival. The last player to move to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal was Ashley Cole over a decade ago.
