‘Absolute joke’, ‘Sheer stubbornness’ - Celtic fans fume on Twitter at squad update

The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their mood dampened somewhat this afternoon.

Though their win over Rangers seriously pleased the Bhoys in the bar, the fact that Hoops star Callum McGregor STILL hasn’t been called up to the senior Scotland side has sparked quite the reaction, both in our bar and on social media.

McGregor has been continuously overlooked by Tartan Army boss Gordon Strachan, despite good form in green and white for much of the past year, much to the annoyance of Celtic fans, as well as Scottish football fans as a whole.

The likes of John McGinn and Barry Bannan have been selected over him, invoking a collective ire.

With two key games coming up against Slovakia and Slovenia, the fact he hasn’t been included has our resident Celtic fans seething in the Tavern, as well as on Twitter.

Having said that, here’s a closer look at how fans reacted online to McGregor’s continued absence from the Scottish national squad.
