‘Absolutely pathetic’ - Fans react on Twitter to Rangers’ club statement

The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are almost beyond the point of disillusionment with their club’s efforts to find a new manager.

The Rangers board sacked former manager Pedro Caixinha at the back end of October this year, and since then they have embarked on a well-documented hunt for a replacement. In the meantime, Graeme Murty has undertaken the responsibility as interim manager of the club.

It has been no secret in Scottish football that Rangers were interested in bringing Aberdeen’s manager Dereck McInnes to the club to permanently replace Caixinha. Rangers remained interested in McInnes despite the fact that Murty led his side to back to back victories over Aberdeen in the SPFL recently, and the club made a formal approach earlier this week.

However, Rangers released a club statement yesterday confirming that McInnes had decided against a move to Ibrox despite their approach, and they shared the news via their official Twitter page.

And to say the Gers fans are furious with their club’s conduct and approach towards finding a new manager would be a massive understatement.

The hierarchy at Rangers have hardly covered themselves in glory throughout recent weeks, but at least the supporters can get behind Murty for the next few weeks, in the knowledge that he will remain in charge until the new year.
