Liverpool ended their two game losing streak by taking the points in a hard fought game at Anfield.
Kenny Dalglish was looking for a positive response after their capitulation in North London last weekend and although the performance was hardly convincing, the result is all that matters and it takes the Reds into the five this evening.
An own goal by Roger Johnson and a second by the impressive Luis Suarezwas enough to beat a Wolves side who certainly played their part in a superb game at Anfield. The action was end to end, especially in the second half and Mick McCarthy’s words at half time certainly had a positive effect. Steven Fletcher halved the deficit getting onto the end of Stephen Hunt’s through pass to give the home crowd cause for concern.

Wolves certainly played their part and on numerous occasions nearly forced an equaliser but found Pepe Reina equal to the challenge. The Reds were able to hold out for the win and had the added bonus of bringing on Steven Gerrard to make his first appearance at Anfield in over six months, much to delight of home fans. An important result for Liverpool in their quest for a top four finish, while a third successive defeat for Wolves will give no doubt give Mick McCarthy a few concerns.
