Tottenham Hotspur: Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik could be available for cut-price deal

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik this summer.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who claimed that he could be available for a cut-price deal worth £27m, as Napoli are eager to get rid of him as soon as possible.

The Italian publication suggested that the Serie A side will slash their €40m (£36m) asking price, as this figure could be reduced by “at least €10m“.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side are under “serious pressure” to sell the Polish striker amid interest from Italian giants Juventus and Tottenham. With Napoli in need of money, the Azzurri believe that they can sell Milik to balance the books, as he is not short of suitors in the summer.

Recent reports revealed that Jose Mourinho is determined to bring the 49-cap Poland international to north London, no matter the cost. However, Daniel Levy has insisted that he will not meet their valuation, although the Spurs chairman should be able to get a discount.

Maurizio Sarri’s sacking has put Juventus in a vulnerable position as it remains to be seen if Andrea Pirlo will pick up where his predecessor left off in terms of his interest in Milik.

Mourinho has made it clear that he wants to find a forward who can provide competition and cover for Harry Kane, and Milik may be the man to get the job done. The Poland international scored 11 goals in 26 games in Serie A last season and took 2.6 shots per game, finishing with a passing accuracy rate of 82.3% (via WhoScored).

If Levy can drive down their price, Milik could turn out to be an absolute bargain, as he has been likened to his international teammate Robert Lewandowski for his goalscoring feats so far.

Whether or not he will want to play second fiddle to Kane is another matter entirely, but Spurs struggled badly during his lengthy absence, and Milik is a player who could hit the ground running by finding the back of the net with regularity.
