Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring young FC Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt. The 19-year-old has impressed for Porto this season, scoring one goal and assisting two in his eight appearances so far this season.
Caughtoffside has reported that Arsenal’s scouting department has dubbed Froholdt the “future Xhaka” for his passing range and intelligence as well as his ability to dictate tempo from deeper areas of the pitch. Spurs are also keen on the player, and value his physical presence as a key attribute.
Porto are understood to be open to offers for the player, despite having recently signed him from Copenhagen for €20m this past summer. The Portuguese giants hope to secure a fee more than double that – in the region of €50-60m which they believe reflects both his current ability and future potential.
The North London rivals could face competition from Brighton & Hove Albion and Atletico Madrid who are also keeping close tabs on the player.
Several clubs chasing Froholdt
Froholdt is already a teammate of Arsenal man Christian Norgaard, after making his full international debut for Denmark in March of 2025. He is a product of the FC Copenhagen academy, having joined the club aged 12 and climbed his way through the ranks.
He was named both Player of the Month and Young Payer of the Month in Portugal for August of 2025, after starting all four of the club’s matches and scoring one goal while providing two assists. He also bagged the Midfielder of the Month award that month to complete the treble.
Froholdt is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can operate anywhere in midfield. He has drawn admirers for his high work rate and physical presence, but also possesses good technique on the ball.
Like Xhaka, he has the ability to link defence and midfield with his intelligent positioning and reading of the play. He is seen primarily as a long term target for Arsenal and Tottenham, but competing clubs could well add Froholdt to their immediate transfer plans.
