The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City next Sunday, and they are hoping their opponents exit from the FA cup last night will boost their chances of winning at Wembley.
Arsene Wenger takes his side on a short journey to Wembley this weekend with every hope of finally clinching his first League Cup trophy as Arsenal manager. The Frenchman has enjoyed a well decorated career in North-London with 7 FA Cups and 3 Premier League titles to his name, but the League Cup has eluded him during his 22 year stint as manager.
He will be eagerly hoping to change that record when his side take on the league-leaders this weekend who will still be hurting from their Monday night exit from the FA Cup after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Wigan Athletic.
The Citizens defeat arrived after a mammoth effort from the Wigan players who epitomised everything that is magical about the FA Cup, but their brilliant performance was slightly marred by some ugly post-match scenes at the DW Stadium.
The Wigan supporters stormed the pitch after the full-time whistle as pandemonium ensued, but unfortunately some of the fans took their celebrations too far, as one supporter was involved in an altercation with Sergio Aguero (valued at £67.5 million by Transfermarkt).
Following the incident, one Arsenal supporter took a rather tongue in cheek response to the situation by suggesting Aguero should be banned and Arsenal given a head start on Sunday, and his tweet provoked plenty of supporters to both jokingly and seriously suggest that the Argentine should be banned for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Here’s what the Arsenal supporters had to say about Aguero following his altercation with a supporter yesterday evening…
Looked like Aguero chinned a fan there. Am no a grass but that should be a 7 match ban and a goal headstart for Arsenal on Sunday @FA
