Arsenal fans have been expressing their disappointment after the club were linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
According to Bild, the Gunners are interested in potentially signing the German centre-half, who has a €40m (roughly £33.3m) release clause, in the summer transfer window. It would make the 24-year-old a cheaper option for the Emirates Stadium giants, who have also been linked with Red Bull Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano (L’Equipe via The Sun).
Tah has been an important part of Leverkusen’s backline this season, appearing in 26 games across all competitions, including in five of the six Champions League fixtures (via Transfermarkt). He has been dribbled past just 0.4 times per league game, the joint-second least number of times when compared to Mikel Arteta’s centre-halves, as per WhoScored.

He’s clearly a player who isn’t popular with these fans, who took to Twitter to react to links with the defender. Here are some of the reactions:
@Arsenal are cowards, we have to make whoever gets Upamecano sweat!!… We also want the best don’t we?? Make Bayern or Barca work, the bouy even said he’d love to play in the Premier League. Advantage Arsenal 🤷🤷🤷

Slow, injury prone and a player in decline.
Exactly the sort of dumpster fire signing I’d expect us to make.— Jamie (@Jamie_TRK) February 19, 2020
