The defence has been a worrying position for Arsenal this season with the club possessing a horrible record in terms of goals conceded. In just 24 games this campaign, Mikel Arteta’s team have let in 34 goals, the joint-seventh most in the Premier League.
The Gunners took steps to add more options last month as they completed the loan signing of Pablo Mari from Flamengo. However, it seems as though they won’t stop there as they were linked, once again, with a move for RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.
According to Bild, the Gunners are very interested in the France youth international, who has so far refused to sign a new deal. The German publication go one step further by claiming that he prefers a move to the Premier League and that he’d be available for €60m (roughly £50m) this summer. In comparison to Arsenal’s options, the 21-year-old averages more tackles per league game than any of the side’s centre-backs, as per WhoScored.
